Yes, it is too early. It used to be a birthday, then 12 days of Christmas, now it's 9 months of non Christmas.

Creole roasted pecans.

4 cups of pecan halves spread onto a large baking sheet into a single layer. Drizzle a stick of melted butter over the top, then sprinkle with your favorite cajun/creole seasoning. Into the oven at 250 for 45 minutes. Stir occasionally to mix.

Hot tip- the Wal-Mart brand oyster crackers are leaps and bounds better than the Saltine brand.

I agree and we were amazed when we realized it. I think we got them by accident in a grocery delivery.

I haven't had forgotten cookies in many a year (though they haven't been forgotten). I do need that recipe if you can provide, please.

here's the one i use:

Forgotten Cookies

4 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 cup sugar
1 cup chocolate chips
1 small bag chopped pecans

(note you can put anything you want in them. the last batch i put about 1/2c of chocolate chips, 1/2c white chocolate chips and pecans)

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 350°F.
Add vanilla to egg whites and beat with an electric hand mixer on high until just foamy.

Add cream of tartar and beat on high until soft peaks form.

Slowly add in sugar, while continuing to beat on high, until all sugar is added and tall stiff peaks have formed.

Gently fold in the chocolate chips and pecans with a big spoon.

Line baking sheets with parchment paper, and portion out cookies. They don't need to be spaced out much.

Place cookies in the oven and turn it off about 1-2 minutes later (or immediately if you think you'll forget)

Open oven next morning & check cookies. If they are still slightly gooey in the morning turn oven on to 200 for 10-15 minutes then turn it back off and check again in a couple hours.

Store in an airtight container for a week or two

I also made a batch with Cheezits and they're pretty awesome, too. They're pretty sharp with cheddar, so back off the Lemon Pepper a little, but it's a nice addition to the mix.

My Mom spotted this recipe last night and has me ordering the ingredients.

Crispy Garlic Ranch Oyster Crackers with Parmesan
Ingredients:
4 cups oyster crackers
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 packet ranch dressing mix (about 1 ounce)
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, ranch dressing mix, dried parsley, and garlic powder. Stir until everything is well mixed.
Add the oyster crackers to the bowl and gently toss them until they are evenly coated with the butter mixture.
Spread the crackers out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle evenly with grated Parmesan cheese.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the crackers are lightly golden and crispy.
Allow the crackers to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before serving. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.
Servings: 8
Prep Time: 5 minutes | Cooking Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 25 minutes
Kcal: Approx. 120 kcal per serving

our next door neighbor gives us a bag of "Christmas Crack". not sure what's in it, but the name fits. basically a variation on the Chex mix but sweet with a powdered sugar coating.

I like Chex mix to have a lot of flavor and L&P without getting too dark. Still trying to get it where I want it, though it’s always good. I had some once with bugles in the mix. They were good. I forgot to add them when I made it recently.

I bet that’s the same as “puppy chow.” At least that’s what I’ve heard it called. These snacks need recipes posted.

I do like you, make some for family and friends. All the recipients love my homemade chocolate chip cookies and I make sure to give out jars of my homemade habanero pepper jelly prior to Christmas just in case folks want to use it with their Christmas day celebration. Most use it with Philadelphia Cream Cheese and spread it on crackers as a pre-meal snack to hold off the appetites a bit.

My wife likes to make Christmas themed chocolate candy in the shape of Christmas trees, Santas, elves, etc. to give to the kids of our nieces and nephews.
