Chinese food: have you gotten tired of it?

It's generally soggy, limp, bland, and unexciting. Also, the hundreds of buffets all over have robbed the cuisine of any excitement.
Ordered from Green Tea on Louisiana Avenue last night out of convenience. It's probably not bad as far as Chinese takeout goes, but I should have saved my money. I ended up eating the white rice mostly by itself and tossed the rest.

I have a friend who cooks authentic Chinese food for me on a regular basis (in exchange for me boiling crawfish/crabs and cooking jambalaya). I will never get tired of the real stuff. It tastes so much different than what you get from a takeout place.

Take a trip to NYC, SF, Vanc, Port, LA, LV, Honolulu,etc..and you wouldn't feel that way.
Chinese Cuisine in La is largely generic buffet grade garbage. BR is a Chinese Wasteland..NO has a few very good ones, but still not on par with the cities listed above, in it's best and depth.

I haven't eaten chinese in years. I prefer Thai or Vietnamese.

Don't go to buffets. Go to a real Chinese place and order off the menu. The only time I did Chinese buffet was for speed. When I was working a tight schedule I walked in and got my plate and pointed to where I would sit. The staff knew me and I was out in 10 minutes.
Now that I'm retired I go to Ming Garden. I also like Thai food but don't know of a good place up here.

absolutely. i probably haven't eaten chinese food by choice in years. I always choose thai, vietnamese, japanese, korean, malaysian, or indian over chinese.
most chinese places are just not very flavorful, and it ends up being overly salty, greasy, or sweet.

I can't even sleep with Chinese women anymore, much less eat Chinese food.

If you get anything with fried/breaded chicken really need to eat in the restaurant so it's fresh.

bland
Yeah, flavor varies greatly amongst Chinese restaurants and it's hard to find a good one.

Ming Garden is good but Imperial Cathay is even better.
