Deep dish is what it is, but so many people that live here, including myself, prefer a tavern-style thin crust. My personal favorites are Tortorice's, John's Ristorante and Phil's Pizza.
I'd like to give Vito & Nick's another go at some point - thought it was good, but too much cheese. Toppings ripped off the entire slice almost every bite.
Pat's in Lincoln Park gets a lot of good reviews, but that's another that I'm not too big on.

I was just coming on the recommend Vito & Nick's. I love their pizza. Great spot if you have an hour to kill before flying out of Midway.
I flew back to Houston with a pizza from there. The rest of the plane was thrilled.

The pizza is similar enough to Lou's but I think a little better. The atmosphere in Pizano's is much better.

Most people have no idea what chicago pizza is.
Even most "deep dish" chicago pizza is a thin crust that lines the pan which sort of forms a "bowl" which the topings, cheese and sauce fit in. It's not an inch of bread like pan pizza at chains.

People confuse pan pizza with deep dish pizza.
That said, Detroit style pan pizza can be really, REALLY good too.

Englewood location is the only one I’ve been to. Cool place with all the pics of movie stars and celebrities that came through Dayton back in the 50s. Yeah it was always weird that you’d pay in cash for pizza then go to the drink station and pay separately.

its like pizza on a cracker but a lot depends on the crust, it has to be the right taste or its not gonna be as good. i have had some that tasted like it was cardboard
and yes, leftovers get soggy but you can pan fry it to reheat and its pretty ok that way since it dries out the crust again
