Just want to let any know if they don’t have one, how great they are. Yes it can “fry” turkeys which coincidentally take only about two hours and frees up oven space. But you can also do chickens and roasts. I did a pork loin last night with a little injection that turned out incredible. Easy cleanup, one temp setting and runs on propane.

Merry last minute Christmas shopping weekend. I’ll be premaking a chicken and sausage gumbo for Christmas tomorrow.

I’ve only used mine for turkey. I need to use it for more. Feel free to share any tips or methods for other meats.

I have the Butterball oil-less turkey fryer. Love it for a bunch of reasons. I did a 5 pound Boston Butt in it last week and was quite satisfied.

Spare ribs are fantastic. The fat turns into cracklings. I like them w pepper jelly.

In here to recommend the accessory kit (you can buy other places than Amazon):

https://www.amazon.com/Char-Broil-22-Piece-Turkey-Fryer-Accessory/dp/B00BN9UOP8/ref=pd_lpo_2?pd_rd_i=B00BN9UOP8&psc=1:

And this site for recipes (you don’t have to use the rubs, marinades, etc, just follow the process with whatever rubs, marinades, etc that you like. AKA, adjust to your tastes) .

You can find more recipes by typing “Charbroil Big Easy recipes” into you preferred internet search engine :

https://www.armadillopepper.com/blogs/recipes/tagged/char-broil-big-easy-oil-less-fryer-recipes

Keep in mind that it is a gas cooker, no charcoal or smoke, so you have to use marinades, rubs, or injection to flavor food. But it will cook a lot of food, and larger size items very quickly compared to most other methods.

Just get a smoker and skip this fake "oil less fryer" nonsense. Plenty of electric, pellet, and propane smokers if you want ease of use of this.

These things taste nothing like an actual fried turkey.

I had one for a while and would always do chicken wings in it. They turned out great.

Oilless fryers are roasters, not smokers. Big difference between a roasted turkey and a smoked turkey. Why do you want to limit yourself to one method of cooking?

The big differences between smoking and roasting is temperature and not using smoke to flavor. Pretty much every smoker can reach roasting temps, most of them are far more controllable in the temps they go to as well. Go with an electric or propane and you don’t have to use wood during the cook.

The butterball one is pretty much an electric smoker, it even has a chip drawer. Just does a very poor job with smoke production through it.

It’s great. Two thanksgiving in a row, the Turkey was great. I’ve done whole chickens in it as well.

I am debating doing a standing rib roast in it for Christmas.

T
I used to cook my X-mas eve rib roast in my Big Easy and it always came out great. That said I use gas grill rotisserie now.

I keep the Big Easy at my elderly parents house, where I don’t have time to use a smoker because I have other things to tend to.

I will take a turkey done in a Big Easy all
Day everyday over a fried
Turkey.

And you sound like you don’t know dick when disparaging the BIg Easy for it’s simplicity of use.

Up to 16 pounds will fit in the basket.

Edit: The largest I have cooked in one was 14 pounds.

So you are saying it's easier than an electric/propane/pellet smokers? They are all about the same difficulty, what's that catch line from the rotisserie as seen on tv, set it and forget it.

My problem with it is you can get the same taste or better and have a product that does a lot more with the other option and they don't try to compare themselves to a completely separate style/taste of turkey.
