Well, Mike, there are 3 meals in one day. 21 times 3 equals 63. I enjoyed roughly 63 meals when I was in Italy. I ate lasagna 20 times. 63 minus 20 equals 43. Thus, there were 43 other meals I enjoyed in Italy where I was able to taste other pastas.
Also, if you've ever been to Italy, you would know that most Italian restaurants have very similar menus. Mostly everywhere only serves pizza, pasta, and foie gras. I don't eat foie gras much, and I didn't want to go to Italy and eat pizza. So, I ate a lot of pasta.
I hope that clears it up for you!

I was on a serious mission to find the best lasagna I could in Italy. I'm a big rater on tripadvisor.com

That's kind of funny.
Look it's a fun thread now. :jump1:

Why is this thread still going?

I don't think I had lasagna once on my trip. Mostly pasta and veal dishes, seafood, pizza, osso buco, etc.
I really want to go back. I was, like you, 22 when I went. I would appreciate it even more now that I have some more years under my belt.

I had a lot of seafood in Venice, and it was amazing. Of course, always accompanied by pasta.
I had to escape to the Hard Rock Cafe once or twice towards the end.

I hear ya. When we wanted a break from all the traditional rich Italian fare, we just ate gelato.

For you perhaps, but not myself. I don't need fine dining French Laundry as I said. I'm just looking for serious kick arse food done by people who love what they put out. It doesn't take service, just love for cooking and love for food. What people put on a plate or in a bag says more about what value you place on food and if you really love it than anything you can say with words.
Right. But price is still a consideration.
You like curbside burgers but you aren't going to pay 27 dollars a pop for them because you know that it's just not a good value.

Fair enough. One more thing to clear it up. Did they have a treadmill in your hotel/hostel?

You just graduated college, is that correct? You're about .. what? 23? 24? In a few years you'll look at people who act such as you do with the same wariness and contempt that I do.
Not saying you know zero about food or wine or different cultures or the way of the world .. but please stay off the high horse when comparing your "experiences" with complete strangers. We get it. You went to Italy. Bravo. So have a ton of other people.
While I found her opinion to be quite unbelievable as well, these are the times I don't want to have sex with you as much
Nobody appreciates being treated this way and while you learn as you grow, an opinion is an opinion and you're very much allowed to have it in your 20s just like you are in your 50s. Nothing offends me more than when people tell me I can't have an opinion on something until I'm some ambiguous age.
FWIW, I think most old folks (70+) have shitty opinions, but they're still allowed to have them and it doesn't make them "wrong".

Baby, you can have all the opinions you want. That doesn't bother me. I welcome outside views; from people of all ages. Just don't treat them as unequivocal or deliver them in an arrogant manner. Nobody likes a know-it-all .. especially not one who is barely drinking age.
I'm not saying you're always like this .. just sometimes. I find a lot of the things you post to be of an intelligent nature.

Seriously, you two just need to get it out of your systems and get it over with already.

It's good to know that I do get a true taste of Italy when I dine at Olive Garden.
Can anyone tell me how Red Lobster is faring in this thread? It's between RL & Joe's Crab Shack for my 3 month anniversary with my new gf.

16 pages and no one said this.
And R2R, if you went to Italy when you were 22, your opinion about Italian food in Italy is exactly the same as Lily's, except hers wasn't decades ago.
I'm with LL on this. You sound really condescending, and for an old guy I'd think you'd have more respect for LL and LL with the language.
Just my opinion. To be clear, I appreciate your views on all food subjects.

What, you think the food court at the mall will be too crowded?
