I understand what you're doing here...you're trying to call out the people that don't like chains because the cool guy on this board doesn't like chains, think Ole Geauxt(I saw a pic of his car yesterday, he has to be cool), but I've been in more kitchens, local and chain, than 99% of the people on a food board. I know how they operate, I know how they cut costs and corners. Of course every chain is not equal. But the fundamental business plan for the majority of chain restaurants is noted above.
Well you've clearly never been in an Olive Garden kitchen as evidenced by your ignorance. So your experience as it pertains to this is rather irrelevant unfortunately.

And you've obviously never been anywhere else and your ignorance is evident as well.

I honestly think most who choose to frequent those spots aren't really as much focused on the actual food as other things, prehaps quantity, maybe a fun place they like to gather, price, and the like.
These are all factors that dictate where you would eat within the realm of local establishments as well though.
It's just rather amusing to me that people try to apply all of these different things as if they're exclusive only to chain restaurant dining.

I'm assuming you're referring to Venice, Italy, rather than that overrated restaurant in NOLA. And I have been to Venice, as well as that restaurant.
Why don't you spend 3 weeks in Italy, have pasta for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and then get back to me?
As I have already stated in this thread - guess you skipped over that part - I have been to Italy. Spent 2 weeks there traveling from Rome to Florence to Cinque Terre to Milan to Venice then back to Rome.
And to say Olive Garden's pasta is the closest to what you find in Italy is a fricking joke.

Nice assumption. But definitely wrong.

And by the way...
Quizno's has the worst frickin Chicken Noodle soup I've ever had.
-1 for chains
Broth obviously wasn't made in house.

Honestly I haven't tried anything there that I'd ever crave
Sandwiches and salads are a notch above Subway but it's nothing special

My ignorance of what exactly?

Oh yeah. Welp, I guess I'm fricked. My trip probably isn't legit enough for some broad in her early 20s who thinks she knows everything about the world.
Posted on 8/2/12 at 1:06 pm to Rohan2Reed
That would be funny if her 3 week trip was as an Olive Garden manager

The intricacies of the restaurant world in a macro scope. You've used your limited knowledge of your OG experience and expounded on it assuming the rest of the chains are as awesome as the OG.
But, with your help, I do now know that OG doesn't use frozen veggies.

Total crap

Anyways, I can't play with you anymore for a while. Work is suffering. I'll try again later.

I did say 3 weeks.
I was simply stating my opinion. You're the one who got all sassy first. And I don't know everything about the world. But I do know everything about my own opinion.
And that is, that Olive Garden pasta tastes similar to all the pastas I've had in every city you named, plus a few more.

Oh for crying out loud. Get with the game. Don't you remember your post above "Olive Garden is crap...well here we go."
It really is funnier if you don't have to put the laughy guy. tsk tsk.
edit: that sounds a bit harsh. better add some laughy guys.
