Casual restaurants by the lake?

I don’t spend much time in Lakeview or Bucktown... what are some good places for a causal dinner? Type of food doesn’t really matter, just looking for some solid places.

R&O right across the parish line by the 17th St. Canal, Deanie's on Lake Ave., both locally owned and operated.
Then there's the place on Lakeshore Dr. if you head out to area of the old lighthouse that is a national chain restaurant that took over the place that had Joe's Crab Shack.

Brisbi’s
Blue Crab
Station 6
R&O’s
NOLA Food & Spirits
Deanie’s
Sala
Lakeview Harbor- new location
Russell’s Marina Grill
2 Tony’s
Ming’s Chinese Rest.
That’s everything at the lakefront and Bucktown. Harrison Ave. has many different things. You would need to be more specific on type of food you are wanting.

Avoid like the plague. It's terrible.

Those two are the best restaurants on that list by far.

I'd avoid these.

These aren't bad options depending on what you're looking for.

Dude! Ming's is the tits! We've always had great food from here, and I don't know of a better chinese restaurant in the new orleans area.

I like R&Os, but NFS is slightly better IMO. Their grilled shrimp salad is on point. Really both are great options: my wife prefers RNO and I NFS.
Blue Crab is good if you're looking for waterfront dining. While the quality isn't the same as the others on these lists, it's not bad and actually quite good for the location and atmosphere.
The rest of the "on the water" places are crap.

I agree with you. Just didn't know what this guy was looking for.

I wouldn't consider NFS casual. That's why I didn't put it at the top. Solid food though.

Came here to post this verbatim. Great minds.

Looks like some solid choices. Thanks everyone.

Brisbi’s is crap? It’s the same thing as blue crab essentially
NFS is a Sysco restaurant and doesn’t even source fresh seafood and it’s located one of the most seafood friendly places in the metro area

Blue Crab has good BBQ shrimp and fried seafood.
Station 6 has the best quality food but not the view.
R&Os is nostalgic and probably the closest to old school joint

If true, at least their sysco shite tastes better than Blue Crab or Brisbi's sysco shite IMO.

Brisbi and BC are sourcing fresh seafood, but it’s still overpriced and poorly executed. That’s why Station 6 and R&O’s are top dawgs out there
I’d never go to brisbi or BC unless I’m strictly boozing.

This couldn’t be more false.
I didn’t know Sysco delivered rabbit.

Anyone who sources fresh seafood is my goto and if they are on the lake, bonus. Not too many views until some things changes on the other side of the harbor. But, there is some movement.

Those fried shrimp and oysters don't look or taste like Sysco "shite."
