Cafe 615 - Da Wabbit

Thanks so much for the suggestions. Several lunch specials today.... One inparticular caught my eye: Fried Center Cut Pork Chop Stuffed with Osyter Dressing...... I read on urbanspoon someone commented on their roast beef poboy. Roast beef poboys get alot of play on this site..... And i love a good one.

Jami waited on me, and she did a magnificent job. I had time to pruse the menu y the time she got to me to take my drink order. When she asked if I was ready when she took my drink order, I had a couple questions:

"i saw your lunch specials..... Tell me this: stuffed pork chop or soup/sandwich?"
"that pork chop is really good.... But its a ton of food. Its usually more of a dinner portion with a dinner price: $18. How hungry are you?"
"thats fair.... Dont need a sleepin pill. How about ur roast beef.... Any sandwich i should look at otherwise?"
"roast beef is my alltime favorite in here. We have won awards.... Times pic has us top 10 n nola, etc. its great."
"gimme that. What soups the best"
"i wouldnt order anything other than chick/saus if ur n here for the 1st time."
"gimme that."

Chick/Sausag had no tomato. Im sure seafood did, lol! Gumbo was very good. Not overpowered by seasoning. I like smoked chick n my gumbo.... This was boiled. Good nonetheless.

Roast beef was slow roasted and pulled.... Very fresh tomato and perfect # of pickles. I ordered without lettuce. Perfect poboy bread.

Thanks for the recs.... Da Wabbit is on my list of eateries on the westbank. Will b here a good bit in the coming weeks.... OBriens and Moes are up next.

Gatusso's in Gretna is good. I like Mo's too. And Schnell's in Marerro.

Thanks for the after lunch update. I haven't been to Da Wabbit yet, but definitely need to.

At OBriens, for your next trip, I really like the Duck Quesadilla. I've had a good steak there as well, but don't remember what cut it was. I've been there about 3 or 4 times and never had a bad experience.

O'Brien's Grille is my favorite steak place! And that is including places in New Orleans!

So glad you enjoyed it. When you make it back there, get the soft shell crab Orleans. OMG!! It's insane delicious. And they also have some of the best fried chicken I've ever had...but it does take a while to cook because it's cooked to order.

Personally, I don't like Gattuso's. It's ALL Sysco crap. NOTHING is homemade.

I've never been disappointed with Moe's.
I will say we went to get two slices and didn't order a whole pizza (which are huge). Pizza was decent but there are much better places around. Plus the place was disgusting, with dirty tables all around while the staff just stood around for an hour.

I didn't like the burger I tried, it seemed frozen - in fact it kept me from going there for over a year, then I got a half off coupon so I tried some different stuff:
I tried the roast beef poboy and it was from scratch home cooked roast beef, falling apart with lots of gravy.
Got a meatball poboy also and meatballs sure tasted and looked homemade as well as the sauce.

Trust me, the roast beef isn't homemade. But with that said, it's the best thing on the menu. It's Sysco, but it's really good.

Their spaghetti sauce is indeed homemade.

Surprised about the roast beef, guess sysco is stepping up their game there, cuz it was really good.

I agree! There are some things that Sysco does do well. Some of their soups/bisques are pretty darn good too.

The fried pork chop entree at cafe 615 is very good also.

The only thing good about Gattuso's for me is the eye candy working there. It's a cool place to drink at though. I Agee with it being mostly Sysco stuff and not homemade.
