Kartchner's in Krotz Springs for boudin. Can get hot regular or smoked boudin, and regular/smoked/cream cheese jalapeño stuffed boudin balls.

Bourques in Port Barre is great. Billy's is solid as well.

I stop at Billy's and Kartchner's every time I go through Krotz Springs. Billy's for boudin and those pepper jack/boudin eggrolls and kartchner's for some sausage and meats.

Billy's in Krotz Springs: boudin balls and wraps. The best is the pepper jack boudin wrap.

I would favor both Kartchner's in Krotz Springs and Bourque's in Port Barre over Billy's.
Kartchner's is worth stopping for the delicious deer boudin and jalapeno cream cheese boudin balls. Bourque's has great boudin and their jalapeno sausage cheese bread is worth grabbing too. A link of boudin, a side of potato salad, and a small serving of that bread makes for a killer roadside lunch.

Bourque's boudin has gone down a lot recently and their cracklins are inedible.

I did a trial of 9-10 boudin places a couple years ago. I thought Kartchners was the top Kroltz springs place. The Billy's there didn't seem as good as the Scott Billy's.

How recently? It has been over a year since I've been there. Never tried their cracklins, but the boudin was great.
