You are a fricking idiot if you can't find good food in VA. You have to work a little harder but there are plenty of options. I have been stationed in both Tidewater and DC and have always found great cuisine. Your problem is you sound like N.LA white trash and are superior for shaking Tony's and Crystal on all your food and calling it better. You should probably quit your job and move back to LA. You are clearly a homer and there is no helping you. The fact you are arguing about Bojangles vs. Popeyes is very telling about you. If you want to grow up I can steer you to some great places. I love LA and it's food but open your fricking mind. Another thing - Virginia is the South. Mason Dixon line, Robert E. Lee and all that shite. DC and Tidewater are the exceptions. The rest of the state is southern in culture and blends into Appalachian. Parts of VA are more southern in culture than most parts of LA.
BTW: I agree that Popeye's is seasoned better. Everything else you said is stupid.

Popeye's has better tasting food. Without a doubt. However... in 5 states, I might have found 2 Popeye's that have decent service. They seem to always be in the shittiest locations and higher the shittiest employees.

I guess you have been away from Louisiana too long and on those coast guard cutters too much if you think VA food is as good as any of the south's, excuse me, the DEEP SOUTH'S food! BTW all that BS about the Mason Dixon Line, Robert E Lee, etc here was 150 years ago. Today half of VA is nothing more than a suburb of DC! Now I like Roanoke, VA south to Tennessee and NC.

My daughter goes to FSU. I was born in NC because my dad was Army Airborne. I have lived in Covington for the past 7yrs but work downtown and cover from Gonzales to Venice and Pearl River to Lafitte. I love Louisiana and it's food. VA food is not as good as LA but there is still good food to be had if you know where to look. I stand by my assessment that you are a dissatisfied homer with a closed mind. There are great Filipino and Korean places in VA. Expand your horizons or come on back to LA.

I was stationed in DC and tbh I thought the food in VA was pretty meh.. But I didnt travel the state seeking out amazing food, just stoped in a few cities. It wasnt like it was throw up in my mouth nasty, but it wasnt slap ya momma good.

i've been known to buy a 6-pack of these buttery sourcream delights and honey and eat nothing else.
bojangles sucks. plain and simple. food is horrible and has no spice whatsoever.
and kakalaki crap? give me a break. who the frick chops the shite out of a delicious smoked butt so it turns to dried out dog turds.
i loved watching mr. "kakalaki" going crazy with the 2 chopping knives in a bbq contest on tv awhlie back after taking off what looked to be a gorgeous butt off the smoker.
the judges almost spit out what he delivered to them.
