I use the Hackberry twist.

Pull and twist. Crack the back. Pull out with teeth. Do all the tails first then thumb out all the yellow stuff from all the heads. Get another tray. Repeat.

I de vain though but usually it comes out all in one motion.

I take my time, pull tail, crack along middle, one or two rings and pull the meat out.
When we boil we always boil more than enough for everyone to get their fill, so it's not a race.
Next question, are you one of those crazies that stacks their heads in a neat pile?

it was an accident how it happened but like I said, while the SO is still breast feeding and we have a nice supply.. i will utilize a shot of it every now and again for dipping purposes

This. But I would add that you should give the tail a 1/4 to 1/2 twist after pushing it into the head, then pull it out, which will remove the first scale or two. I don't understand how more south LA people don't know this technique and simply pull the tail off and remove the first two scales with their fingers.
