I like to twist and push in a little bit as I pull off the head. It helps make the fat come out with the tail. Then, I press my teeth against the tail shell to expand the shell and then grab the meat with my teeth and pull out and eat in 1 motion. I do not suck the heads - it's too much salt. I usually use my finger to dig out any residual fat.

This method is very fast and can help you get your fill before the others. Frequently dispose of your pile of shells so other people don't catch on.

ETA: I forgot to say that the tail gets a little squeeze as I pull the meat out with my teeth.

I shove my thumb in the head and arch it back as I pull it out to get all the fat

Fast and furious!

Seriously though it sounds like you and I have the same exact technique down. That's why I never volenteer to peel leftover crawfish because I'm too used to just grabbing it straight from the tail with my mouth.

Pull and eat claw if I can. Suck juice out of the claw that's still attached to the body.
Pull apart
Pinch end of tail and pull out meat with mouth
If the head is soft and juicy, I suck the head while I squeeze it. If anything is left, I dig in it.
Or dig all in the head until nothing comes out.

Crunch tail a little. Peel off head and the first one or two tail shell segments in one motion. From there you can pull the tail meat right out.

I find I never have to do that. If you grab the meat with your teeth and squeeze the bottom of the shell, it should slide right out.

Why does it feel like I'm writing erotica right now?

My health is such right now that if I get a little too much sodium I will pay for it in excruciating pain in my legs. Also, high blood pressure.

In regards to the head, i'll take the whole head shell off and suck the top part of the inner head where the lungs(??) are. All that fat is delicious.

I'm a NOLA suburban boy.

That technique was taught to me by my 7-year-old niece who spent a lot of time with her Cajun grandparents in Breaux Bridge.

GP's last name: Breaux.

Nuff said.

Starting with the third tail ring from the head, I push the tail into the body very quickly, then pull it out, leaving a nice piece of exposed tail meat that only needs to be put into my mouth and released from the remaining tail with a little squeeze. Then I grab the head and suck all of the juice and fat out as I squeeze the head. Takes approximately .67 seconds before I'm on to the next bug.

Not a chance. I'll use low-sodium broth, but I'm not giving up my jambalaya.

Grab, twist & pull to remove tail from head/body. Suck head, remove first section or two of tail exoskeleton in one motion and eat tail meat.

Grab and twist. I suck every head like I'm in a god damn gang bang porn. I do the same grab the tail meat and squeeze the bottom of the tail, but I use my fingers. Separate the body and get any more residual fat. If the claws are big, I'll go for them, if not, it's kinda a waste of time. I usually get about 3/4 pound down, then take a "break" to eat some of the sides and drink some beer, and then get back into the crawfish. Rinse and repeat to 7-10 pounds depending on how hungry I am.

To clarify what I am saying about pressing my teeth against the shell so that it expands, think about this.

The way you release your fingers is the move them towards each other.
