Wow, are you generally this much of a douche? You come across as exactly the kind of person that would buy a yeti because it's stupidly expensive. I'm not your wife, you don't have to justify your purchases to me.

I don't want a yeti because there are many, many other things that I value more than a cooler.

It must suck having your ego and opinion of yourself directly tied to how much money you spend on a cooler when in the end, my beer, fish, and meat are just as cold as your in my poor, white trash igloo

Despite the fact that I already listed the details involving features the yeti has that no other cooler has and that are certainly necessary (standing on yeti on a boat or locking yeti when camping near bears)?

Cannot imagine how much that must hurt you.

Completely understand that and it makes perfect sense.

Still failing to grasp that entire "function" thing, eh? It has everything to do with the tool and nothing to do with the price.

Nothing out there compares to BGE or any other high quality ceramic cooker when it comes to outdoor cooking.

1st of all $800-$1000 is cheap IMO for a grill that will last you a lifetime... A nice weber will run a few hundred at least and will not come close to outlasting a BGE.

2nd.. Its a HIGH temp grill, I grill my steaks at 800-1200 degrees... Your Weber can not do that.

3rd... It's, IMO, the worlds best smoker. I have never tasted meat come out as juicy and flavorful with any other smoker out there.

For those of you who are complaining about cleaning and lighting... Give me a break! A full laod of charcoal in that thing will last me a few cookings, I clean out ash once a month MAYBE, and its lit and hot in 15 mins. Its the price you pay for quality cooking.

This is my baby right here and I promise you that if it fell over and broke today, I'd be buying a new one in the AM.

Agree with you,Jack. There's not much ash anyway. I clean every 3 or 4 uses, depending on how long I use it and even that is easier than any other one I've had. It's lit and hot in no time.

Whenever I use good lump (BGE or R.O.), I can usually make it through an entire bag before cleaning out my ash.

I've been needing to get a MAPP torch.. I was going to pick one up at Stines last week but it was $50... Thats a lil too much for a lighter

If people are complaining about having to clean it then they are just being stupid.

All you need to clean the ash out is a shop vac. Done in less than a minute.

what I want to know is, does everyone really just give their other grills away after buying a BGE? It seems to be customary to mention that every time someone plugs this thing.

I have a Yeti. for what I use coolers for:

1. Haven't noticed a huge diff in ice keeping time, unless for food storage, keep shut and it will keep ice longer...but I use it for drinks, opening them over and over negates the insulation.

2.too heavy

3. Too small internally for external size.

4. Standing on them or sitting on them is their best feature. That and locking all the bears out.

I'm mostly a novice at grillin'/smokin' but even I can cook some really good sutff on my BGE. There's a learning curve for those of us who hadn't cooked with lump charcoal but it's not that steep.

I think a lot of the enthusiasm over the BGE comes from the frustrations of using other grills. The BGE is simple, low maintenance, seems really durable, and very versatile.

That's what many are missing when they spew about the price. Gas grills, if they are used much, might last ~ 7-yrs outside if it is good quality with quality burners that will need to be replaced. The P-XL, while a little dirty from 5-yrs of smoking, is in as good of shape as when I got it. Maybe the grates will need to be replaced way up the road due to 500-700 grill temps, but that is a very nominal cost. Recently bought a Rutland gasket to replace the gaskets for the first time at a cost of $8 and it came with adhesive that withstands up to 2000 degrees F. I could likely sell my P-XL today for what I paid 5-yrs ago and just happen to have a new unused firebox I could throw in if I were.

I see you have a rolling nest, danger-danger.

Yeti coolers are great for holding ice. Not worth a shite for drinking a bunch of beer. Too heavy, a bitch to open, small holding capacity, expeninve as shite. Not worth IMO. I had one, hated the damn thing..

Yetis are best used for something like deep sea fishing where you keep it closed most of the time and you need your ice to continue to be ice. I just got a bge, and it is awesome. It is so easy to keep a temp and it gets hot within 10 minutes. I will prb never buy another grill, it can do everything!
