Big shout out to Taqueria Arandas. Cheap and very solid Mexican! Loved it when I lived in Texas.

Pastor tortas are great!

I tried the Birria Tacos at Tacos Dona Lena this Saturday and it was somewhat disappointing. Not as flavorful as what I was expecting. But we also ordered some of the street tacos that were legit. The Agua Fresca was on point too. I would definitely go back. Also to the OP for a different spin on Birria Tacos, check out The Melt on Wheels inside of the Craft Beer Cellar Houston, Franklin St and Travis St. they have a Birria Grilled Cheese that is mind blowing.

I like La Vibra that was previously mentioned, but I don't think it's going to make it. Every time I've been I'm the only person there.

I live in Rice Military, so I was pretty excited about being able to walk somewhere with my kids without having to hangout with a bunch of grown up kids at El Tiempo down the street...I find everything at Pacific Coast to just be meh.

Tacos Tierra Caliente, taco truck next to West Alabama Ice House...grab a couple al pastor or lengua, walk across the street and order an ice cold Lone Star at the Icehouse

That's my recommendation for tacos in Houston. One al pastor. One fajita beef. One barbacoa. $6 ticket. Get the orange sauce.

I didn’t realize they had such a thing. I like their burgers so I’ll give Taco Tuesday a try for lunch soon. Maybe tomorrow.

It’s a regular menu item. They don’t get the hype the burgers do but their tortillas are legit. No clue where they get them. I need to ask.

Aladdin

Phoenicia(outside the loop)

Zoa-Moroccan fast casual

People rave about Craft Pita, I've been but it just seems like it's all of Phoenicia's items repacked and up-charged

There is a new bakery in the Village called Badolina, it's from the folks that run Desi Vega, have had some really good pastries here and I think they are looking to open a Shaya/Saba type of concept next door, it's across from Hopdoddy on Morningside.

Not extactly Mediterranean, but something that is on my list to try soon is Da Gama in the Heights, Portuguese/Indian, from the folks that run Oporto in Midtown.

Anybody who wants authentic tacos hit up:

you need to go to aladdin. Closer to downtown than like kirby or whatever but still. Can't recommend enough
