quote:

tsunami is an overpriced joke of a sushi restaurant.
ichiban has terrible rice and lukewarm fish. the fish portions are terrible as well.
hello sushi is fried fish covered in rich sauce.

wahada is decent.
the kamado's on sherwood is decent. the kamado's on bennington, not so much.

the tokyo cafe is terrible. too terrible to even talk about.
as is drunken fish.
have not eaten at waka house.
the only thing edible at nagoya's is the smoked salmon roll.

the correct answer is sushi yama. nothing pains me more than hearing people who consider a california roll or crunchy or tempura roll "sushi" talk about the best sushi restaurant.

a sushi restaurant is only as good as its best sushi chef. and Sushi Yama has the single best sushi chef in the city. If you haven't sat at the bar, in front of him, and had him wait on you personally, you've yet to really eat at sushi yama.

if you eat sushi anywhere but at the bar, you don't really know sushi either.

if someone tells me that tsunami is the best restaurant in the city, i immediately can tell you he/she knows dick about sushi. it's like someone telling me pf chang's is the best chinese.

exactly! my neighbor is a big fan of sushi..so i asked her what's her favorite type of sushi and she said "california's roll" I really got offended by her answer because she doesnt know crap about sushi.

tsunami sushi is crap. You couldn't pay me to eat there.
I don't eat at restaurants for the decor, view, or to be seen. I eat there for the food.

What are you talking about. 37 posts, go back to lurking. By the way, looks like Sushiyama wins so maybe I do know what I'm talking about.

I like Tsunami, but it's not the best. It was pretty average back in the day, but now it's gotten better. I think the best sushi I've had was at Rock-n-Sake in New Orleans, but in Baton Rouge it's Sushi Yama. Ichiban is second, for me.

this sounds like you know the answer to that question. that you know that eating at the bar is better.

but there have been times that I've gone to sushi yama and waited to sit at the bar as opposed to table service.

Di Twan of sherwood behind applebee's best kept secret in baton rouge. and the place place the best jazz while you eat. never crowed smaller place. lots of repeat customers. every time me and fiance go in we see alot of the same people and the waitress always remembers us. try the mexican roll. enough said

Duang Tawan is the name. Sushi is so-so. Thai is good but overpriced and the portions are small.

I've tried them twice. Most flavorless sushi I've ever had both times. I like their hibachi though.

That's the problem with these threads. It's always This place is great/sucks, which tells us nothing.

I went there the other night and they've been my highly touted favorite...next to Waka House and man was I disappointed the flavors just don't taste the same anymore.

Sushi Brothers in NOLA is still pretty awesome to me.
