Doesn't Randazzo's sell out/ or being out on wait list near mardi gras? I don't want to order one this early. Can anyone confirm?

You place the order now and select your delivery date. I know that this is how Haydel's and Randazzo's does it. Those dates closer to Mardi Gras will fill up fast.

For real! A randazzo is the only baked good that somehow gets MORE moist the longer you have it... it defies logic!

I suspect that this will be a highly unpopular opinion, but I actually prefer Ambrosia Bakery in BR for shipping. I've done the following in the past years and think I liked the Ambrosia best:

If you want a Randazzo's and can't get the ship date you want from them, try Antoine's. Pretty similar of a cake. They did a shitty job of shipping last time I ordered from them and got a second cake out of it. First cake was edible, but looked like a firecracker went off in the box, so it wouldn't be something you wanted to give out to people.

Good tip, didn't realize they were shipping this year. I tried a DP King cake last year, be far the best I've had. Just ordered one for late February. They only have a few dates left at the moment

Oh wow didn't realize that was new to this year. They only deliver Monday and Wednesday I think. Glad I ordered one the other day because all Monday's and Wednesday's were available. And that was only on Friday like two days ago.
