Don't get the love for Ancora. Went for the first time tonight.

Pizza was greasy as hell, atmosphere is not comfortable. Yeah great spot for kids but it's too open for a restaurant. Not romantic at all for a date. Would be a better bar.

I liked the ingredients, all high quality, and the pizza was tasty. But a 108 dollars for 3 glasses of house wine, 1 pint beer, 1 small app, and 3 pizzas is a bit ridiculous.

Pros:
Solid ingredients
Good menu
Tasty pizza

Cons:
-Poor atmosphere
-10.50 for a pint of evil twin brewing. Wow. I can get a GitM for 8.50 much higher ABV and twice the beer. All beer was about 2 bucks too expensive
-all 3 pizzas were just way too greasy

Greasy pizza:

I would give it 3 of 5 stars. No desire to go back unless it was on company dime.

I agree with this and the fact that drinks are high.

I don't find the atmosphere uncomfortable, it may not be cozy.

Also haven't had an issue with overly greasy pizza. Perhaps that's preference. Though I haven't been in a few months.

Eggplant pizza at Amici is money.

Need to try some of these other places. Slice was great but upped their prices a while ago and I haven't been in a while.

Not sure if serious.

That place is the biggest disappointment. Pizza is completely mediocre.

I have been to Ancora like 5+ times and have never had greasy pizza. Didn't find anything wrong with the atmosphere either. Understand your point about it being wide open. It's been a few months since I have been though.

Never realized they had craft beer either. Just checked their menu and it looks like their regular craft beers are $6/pint which is about normal.

Yup, and have you ever priced that evil twin hipster at the store? It's just an expensive beer.

I don't really understand the greasy pizza crowd. It's freaking pizza not a damn salad. Go buy a bunch of high quality cheese, cut off small pieces, and melt those suckers in the microwave. Tell me what's in the plate.

Meh. There's a difference between greasy pizza and a pool of grease on your plate.

I love pizza but if I have to use a napkin to soak up all the grease it's too much.

Again for the entire package, the place is just too expensive. If I don't enjoy the atmosphere AND I gotta overpay for drinks that means a lot. I complimented the ingredients and the pizza was indeed tasty. But it's known as hands down an elite eatery (top 1 or 2) in a city with endless great pizza options. That it is not. But on this board some places are just automatically free of any criticism.

The same ingredients that made the pool of grease in your plate

Neopolian style pizza has somewhat of a soupy center. It's indicative of the style. You may not be a fan of the style, but calling it greasy is silly.

ETA: Dominica and Ancora, and it isn't close.

This is a gross overstatement. While we have more places serving good pizza, they don't exist around every corner.

You clearly place a higher priority on atmosphere and drink price then I do. When I think about a pizzeria, I want to know about the pizza. I don't worry about the dining experience too much.

That's just my way of looking at pizzerias.

Your argument has a point except for the fact that Domenica makes Neapolitan style pizzas and they aren't greasy as frick.

I'm on my tablet, so my apologies for the typos and spelling errors

As much as I love Domenica, I would say that it is more Neapolitan inspired than it is Neapolitan style.

Fair enough. I also enjoy eating at superior and the rum house bar with my SO. and it's sure as hell not for the food. great drinks, almost always crowded, good atmosphere.

I love Domenica, but Tower of Pizza is by far my favorite. That place is a landmark!

There you have it.

I have plenty of friend that are the same way. Just not for me. Something about the Rum House rubs me the wrong way.

Did the Baton Rouge mint ever open?
