taquerias, IMO, should be a completely different category that regular tex-mex restaurants.

and yes when you go to any of these places on the list, and most places in BR, you are going to Tex-Mex places.

Is Chimes even a bar? Or a restaurant with a huge beer selection?

Whereas Bulldog is a bar with a small kitchen.

It's a restaurant with a bar. And it is still > Bulldog. By a lot.

No, not by a lot. Smoking is the only reason I wouldn't have them even. And I can't bring the dogs to the Chimes.

As much overlap as there is in what they do, they are two pretty different places.

I don't know how they pick these restaurants but it definitely feels like the people who advertise in the magazine seem to win most categories..

Again, as someone who knows it well enough told me, there's a rock solid wall between editorial and sales. An independent accounting firm conducts the survey. There are no shenanigans.

It's just natural though that places that advertise a lot are going to have their name out there more and thus will get votes based on name recognition when people don't really know all the places in a certain category.

I've never heard anyone hate on the Chimes. If you hate the Chimes, then you aren't my kind of person.

You must have missed the thread full of people calling it overrated. It was pretty ridiculous.

I agree with this. Well, except that time they put sliced cheese on my cheese fries. frick them for that time. It seems they have gotten their shite back together lately.

I just don't think they're the "best Bar" in town, mostly because I don't consider them a bar.

You're right that they're not a bar. Maybe 225 needs to call the category Best Place to Drink.

I think it's great, but this board seems to have a different opinion. It must have been the cool place to hate on last month.

To be totally fair, long before I ever worked at Dempseys, I thought their gumbo was better than any gumbo in any restaurant.

ETA: Didn't realize you were you.
