when did mac and cheese become 'mac and cheese and whatever other trash people want to throw in it' and still call it mac and cheese? Call it something else.
It's a disservice to Kraft original. Yes, it's my favorite.

I had some J Alexander mac-cheese over the weekend. Really good, but I've had better multi-cheesed versions.

And why did J Alexander go redo the formerly awesome chunkier cut Maytag Bleu Cheese Slaw recipe..it now is mediocre in contrast..would prefer some Parrain Peanut Slaw.

Artisanal in NYC

sounds like martha's 101 recipe.. she uses gruyere and white cheddar, adds the cheese to a bechamel and has a bread crumb and parmesan topping.

You like cream cheese, jalapenos and bacon too huh?

Lobster Mac and cheese at Ruffinos is a very good one.

And I make ten different ones at home. My daughters favorite? Kraft.

For box Mac and cheese I never ate it growing up. I had too many old country women cooks in my life. They weren't about to use it. They used rat or hoop cheese, macaroni noodles ( with the holes in them-I call hosepipes) Pet milk and a ton of black pepper. THIS is my favorite.

I like to make my own with 3 different cheeses and cream instead of milk. It makes it smoother.

The one I make, but if we're talking restaurants:

1. J Alexanders
2. Fleming's

This. There isn't a #3 in the restaurant world.

There was a lobster mac n cheese that was featured on Bobby Flay's Throwdown.. The restaurant owner added mascarpone cheese into the bechamel. haven't attempted it yet..

there's a jalexander's here in nashville which i always put on the same level as chili's and applebees.

It is a little more expensive than the other 'mid tier' restaurants, and well worth it IMHO.

I got a Food Network magazine recently that had a recipe for Mac and Cheese soup. Looks good, but, I haven't had a chance to try it yet.
