Honestly, there’s not a lot of separation. Most places use the same ingredients. I like mine naked with only melted butter and the Barking Crab is usually where I go.

I hate chowder so can’t give recs.

Before the other night, I would have agreed with Neptune.

Just went to Saltie Girl on Tuesday, and I think they have the best lobster roll in town.

As for clam chowder, I don’t ever order it so it’s hard to say. But I do know that’s on the menu at Saltie Girl and everything there is great so I’d trust their chowder as well.

Of course you would say this.

Next time mother brings you to Boston, tell her to avoid the tourist traps like barking crab. Hopefully Golden Corral will come out with a lobster roll soon and that will appeal to your refined palate

Sure do. It’s a nice little boutique hotel. Great location. As with most older hotels in the city, the rooms are likely pretty small, but it will be nice.

You’ll have good access to both the Orange and Green line and will be able to walk to a ton of good restaurants and bars.

Never actually stayed there though. Rents expensive enough that I don’t need to pay for a hotel too.

Lol. Thanks bud. I got Patriots train tickets and a couple weekend passes for the wife and I. It says back Bay station is close by. Never been to the city before. Really looking forward to it.

Hope y'all enjoy yourselves. If you have any questions on the city, I'm always happy to help.

FWIW, I know as a first time visitor getting the chowder and a lobster roll is part of the experience, but there's a lot of great food outside those two stereotypes as well!

Looks like we might get a little snow on Friday, but the rest of the weekend should be nice for y'all.

Oh, and if you're an LSU fan and want to catch the game, The Baseball Tavern in Fenway will have it on with sound. That's the LSU Alumni bar.

Pauli's in North End was an awesome lobster roll (tossed in hot butter).

I also had some great Chowder from Atlantic Fish Co.

I had Chowder From Neptune, Saltie Girl, and Atlantic fish Co(I love chowder)

But the best I had was at a place called Sail Loft. They use a little more dill seasoning and it was freaking awesome

Awesome thanks a lot. That was a huge concern of mine. Baseball tavern in Fenway ? That's at Fenway park ? Open to anyone ? I brought my fire stick to be on the safe side. Lol.

"Fenway" can denote either the ballpark or the neighborhood in which the ballpark is located. The Baseball Tavern is in the Fenway neighborhood, across Boylston Street from the ballpark.

It's just a regular bar, so anyone 21+ is welcome.

There was a great crowd for the Bama game. Hopefully there will be some Tiger faithful there this weekend too.

To get there from your hotel, you would walk to the Copley T-Stop and take the D train toward Riverside. Get off at the Fenway stop. Very easy ride.

Thanks again abita. Appreciate the input. I do have a few more questions if you have the time. If you don't mind could you shoot me your email to jkylejohnson@gmail.com.

Out of respect for my fellow foodies on here I figured would be better to email than turning this into the Definitive Boston thread part deux. Lol.
