Yeah, grew up in Broussard/Lafayette and never had a clue it was "BlackJack".

Poboys: Pops (Old Tyme is overrated. Unpopular opinion)

Except Olde Tyme's fried shrimp and oyster poboys are much better than Pop's. Pop's has some fancy, and great poboys, but they can't touch OT on the aforementioned. Do try the Bahn Bahn Shrimp at Pop's. On Friday, OT has the seafood plate with fried shrimp / oysters / and some of the best center cuts of catfish you will find.

Burgers: Twins or Judice Inn (no fries)

Not close, Judice by a mile. They don't need fries.

Authentic mexican: La papa loca (no habla ingles)

I'll have to try it. For Tex-Mex I like La Carreta.

Cuban: Pepins (best cuban sandwich I've ever had)

I haven't had them from too many places but I agree it's the best in Lafayette.

Judging by the line at noon, Chik Fil A on ambassador seems to be the hot spot. Every time I pass there cars are out in the road blocking traffic. It's crazy.

Is Dwight's still open? They used to have good plate lunches.

T-Coon's
Acadian Superette
Office Hours
Dwight's
Earl's
Laura's
Johnson's Boucaniere
LeBouef's in Broussard
Pat's Downtown
Creole Lunch House
Nunu's in Youngsville

And don't ask me to rank any of those, because they are all delicious. Some just charge different prices and put different amounts of food.

No lack of awesome plate lunch spots in Lafayette area.

While Nunu's has some good stuff, when they bought Early's in Scott, that's when the best plate lunch in Lafayette died. Early's was spot on w/ everything except when they did BBQ.
