Have always enjoyed a good bloody mary, but for one reason or another have rarely made one at home.

I recently got one at the bulldog and noticed the bar tender added a little Guinness at the bottom of the glass, anyone do this?

I've always just gone vodka, zing zang, green beans and a little tonys on top the few times I have made one at home.

What is everyone's go to recipe? Surely someone on here has one that is a knock out.

You have to be really good to top Zing Zang IMO.

However, to my Zing Zang I like to add a little dark beer, extra worcestershire, and a couple dashes of tabasco.

I add all kinds of stuff. But I'm in the minority and like tabasco extra spicy mix better. Add some or all of the following:

Any pickled veggie
Celery seed
Salt
Horseradish
Black pepper
Mrs. Dash
Worcestershire
Hot sauce
Garlic
I'm sure I'm forgetting something...

Don't know the recipe. I assume it was normal with one exception. A friend once served me a home made bloody that had been made with tomato and clam juice. By far the best I have ever had anywhere.

Make it the same way you'd make cocktail sauce, using tomato juice in lieu of ketchup. Then add some celery salt.

Great idea. I could eat horseradish straight out of the jar.

This and uses V8 instead of zing zang which has an overbearing flavor for me.

I make mine with gin. I don't like vodka and a gin bloody mary is awesome. I use Whiskey Willie's bottle mix. Nothing else is needed other than garnishes, though I sometimes throw in some extra horseradish.

Ice in glass, then add celery salt, pepper, LA, Crystal, or Cajun Chef hotsauce, Worcestershire sauce.

Pour vodka first, then V-8 or Campbells Tomato juice.

SHAKE

Then add a couple shakes of salt and squeeze of lemon and stir.

This is essentially a Sparh's bloody mary as taught to me by the owner.

I have started adding Siracha (Garlic Siracha with the seeds works best, not the cock sauce in squeeze bottle) which has a great kick.

I hate using horseradish, which seems to be the thing that most peeps out here in SF do.
