Excluding Jerry Lee's, whatcha got?

Please limit the area to East and West Baton Rouge, Livingston, and Ascension Parishes.

Wayne Jacobs Smokehouse is very good. St John Parish.

Benoit's in Addis is also very good and is in WBR Parish. Get the "hot". Better than Jerry Lee's.

On Government between Radio Bar and BR Magnet. Same side of the road. Smaller boutique type place/higher end meat market.

Thanks for the suggestions! Definitely will try most of them.

While I love their cracklin and boudin, I had their hogshead cheese once and it was "chunky". It crumbled to pieces when you tried to cut it.

I heard they are moving. Anyone know where to?
That's my go to.

ETA: They are moving into the Broadmoor shopping center. Hopefully the new place has a working AC cause it was hot AF in there last week.

They are moving to the new place for 3 reasons:
1. More customer seating
2. Expanded kitchen which will allow them to offer more menu items like at their Hammond location which has po'boys and burgers
3. AC THAT F&%KING WORKS!

Murray's Supermarket in St. Amant has head cheese nearly identical to Jerry Lee's. My go to head cheese.

The best hog head cheese I ever had was from Cormiers' in Jennings. Ronnies is the closest to it. The reason Ronnies crumbles is because it is backed with a lot of meat. Eat it on a cracker bro. Stuff the whole cracker in your mouth at one time. My brother in law is a 100% Lake Charles coon-arse. He says Ronnies is the best he ever had. T-Boy knows best.
