I've had cheap gas grills before and a nice Weber. The cheap grill only lasted a year and never really cooked worth a crap. The Weber worked like a champ from the first day and lasted about 8 years with no to little cleaning or maintenance.
I now am a proud owner of Weber Performer and will never go back to gas. I plan on getting about 20 years out of this grill.

i literally just went through the same thing...i spent weeks reading every review i could find and i settled with the Weber 310. it's the $500 model, which i felt was a good balance between the cost of the grill, performance, and how much i'll actually use it. i thought about the weber genesis series..but had a harder time justifying its cost since we only grill about every other weekend or so

I forgot to mention to two types of dick-measurers in grilling
1. the guy with the biggest most expensive grill thinks he's john holmes.
2. the guy who refuses to evolve and use gas is like the euro porn star with an uncut cock that curves a little to the right and it makes it hard to jerk off to any scene with him in it.

Charcoal is a PITA. I want the ease and quickness of LP or NG.
I can have my BGE to temp and ready to go in 10-15 minutes.

The knock on them from pure Weber enthusiasts is that they are made in China (as are the lower end Weber models) and are not as high quality as the Weber Genisis series and above. I don't know one way or the other about the Ducane grills.

me too. I really have a short fat tuna can of a cock.
and my grill isn't something i take a lot of pride in or feel the need to show anyone when they visit unless there's meat on it. we all know the types that like to show their buddies, fire it up for no reason but just to prove it get's hot. to me that's like showing off the stove or washing machine. why do lots of guys do this shite?

What about the Ducane Grill? I read where Weber owns Ducane now. Hundreds of dollars cheaper than a Weber

yes. plus you don't have to clean the inside of the BGE. I had 2 propane grills, both under roof, and had to replace the parts every 2 years. cost almost as much as a new pit. plus it made a mess. I'll take the inconvenience of keeping lump charcoal over the maintenance and bother of a gas grill anytime.

Weber Performer is basically a Weber Kettle grill with more bells and whistles and costs $350. Don't think that is the most expensive or biggest grill.

From Lowes for $299:
Char-Broil 4-Burner Commercial Series Gas Grill Item #: 212564 | Model #:463244011
I have had it for 3 years, no rust, no issues, works great.
Get this and an $89 Weber Kettle for using charcoal and you will have the best of both worlds (gas and charcoal) for less than $400.
