Looking to take my wife on a food tour of NOLA for her birthday. Any opinion on which is the best experience that takes you to some truly worthwhile places?

Friend,

Have you considered preordering a spot on TulaneLSU’s Poorboy Tours of New Orleans . We currently are getting the tour bus back up and running, as well as attempting to get proper city permits.

If you are unable to join us, I suggest dinner at the incomparable Impastato’s , America’s greatest Italian restaurant.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

When will you be up and running? Her birthday is November 13th.

I have a friend who gives food tours in New Orleans, but I don't know if you'd get the full experience with not all of the restaurants fully back in service? Or maybe they are and I haven't been paying attention.

She. It's a walking tour, does that make it a no go? I'll text her to see if they're doing them right now.

Not at all. It seems most of them are. Have you been on it?

This board can come up with something nice for ya if you wanted to plan something on your own. Depends on what exactly you’re looking for

I’m guessing they want a food history tour of sorts...one could do an app tour of their own. I made a map for our anniversary one year...

No one is looking for a beef tartar burger tour. Be gone.

I haven’t, but I’ve worked with her in another capacity. She’s very knowledgeable, grew up in New Orleans and knows her stuff. No fake history. Still waiting to hear from her.

She said her boss had started advertising tours again but there were zero sales, so she took them down. Sorry I can’t help.

If the tour doesn't work out or if you have multiple days I highly recommend new orleans school of cooking. The more expensive teaching one is a lot of fun but even the demonstration one is worth it. Includes a full meal. Menu/dates and times/prices are on the website which I also liked.

Tell her Happy Birthday for us. My birthday is Nov 13 also, so I know that is a good day to be born.
