Honestly prep makes a huge difference. Relatively fresh Community whole bean ground in the morning and made in french press, pour over, a high end machine, etc. is definitely drinkable for me

8 month old pre ground made in a 25 dollar Mr. Coffee? That'll taste like dirty water.

This is going to sound white trash. An old cowboy I used to run some cows with taught me that when you're on the road it's tough to beat a cup from McDonalds.

I couldn't tell because it's so fricking hot I can't taste it.

Every coffee place when you order it black gives you this undrinkable coffee that you can finally drink 30+ minutes after you buy it.

I'm currently drinking two types of PJs K-cups.

French Roast in the morning
Salted Caramel around 2:30pm.

I'd prefer to get it fresh from PJs, but it's time consuming and more expensive. Coffee at the office sucks, but someone bought a Keurig for one of the kitchens so I guess this place isn't too bad.

Hell yeh. I'm a coffee snob. I do agree the beans are the way to go if you are taking the Community route (my wife makes me buy it).

I prefer the smaller independent roasters. Orleans Coffee Exchange is a favorite located in La.

For French press, I use a Jamaican blue blend from sprouts.

I wouldn't make it any other way at home. An antique stove top percolator runs a close second to the French press imo

find a local roaster and then find your favorite roast from them

this will be more important than whatever brand bean you buy from the store

I started drinking tea at night and the whole process is very calming and enjoyable.

I'd like to look into getting a grinder and french press soon for my weekend cups of coffee. I hear that's night and day difference from k-cups.

A 60 dollar coffee maker is night and day difference from k-cups

I love a good light roasted bean. I get these Ethiopian beans from the farmers market that make an awesome cup of coffee when made in a pour over or French press. It is so flavorful when made correctly. But they are $12 per bag so I don’t known if I’d call it an everyday thing.

Then you should know it has a lot less to do with the beans than it does the brew/method used.

I prefer pour over (Chemex) over FP, but either will be far superior to K-cups, especially if you fresh grind

and if you buy a grinder, be sure to buy a burr grinder, not blade

burr is going to be more expensive, but worth it

Thankfully there are more and more good, reliable burr grinders available now for relatively affordable prices
