After a recent trip up North, I've become a huge fan of cheese curds.
I've seen them at a few fast food restaurants - Sonic and Freddy's, but they're no comparison to the real deal.

Who has them in Baton Rouge, and who has the best?

Not curds, but the fried halloumi from Albasha is excellent.

I went to Omaha and it seemed like every restaurant had them on the menu. They were great with the house-made ranch

Cheese curds lose their squeaky texture after a few days so restaurants need a source that can get them to their door right away. South LA doesn't seem to have such a supplier unfortunately.

the answer is Merchant and there is no need in even discussing second place.

That reminded me that I have seen several brands of cheese curd in grocery stores in the mid-west proclaiming they are "Squeaky Fresh".
