Ray’s on 182?

My Pawpaw and uncles used to get Ray’s when I was younger (I think back then Billy’s and Ray’s shared a place). I remember enjoying it.

But the last couple I’ve tried it in the past 10 years or so, neither time has really made me eager to buy more links.

They had a down period but it’s back to being legit.

I think the reason being is once you get West of Bayou Nezpique, the ratio of meat to rice goes WAY down. Starts to be too much like bland Texas boudin (still heat, but no real flavor, need flavor with the heat).

That's also why I don't care for Market Basket, though it seems to get a bunch of love on here.

This has been my experience every time I've tried boudin in lake Charles

Way too much rice

I agree with you regarding Johnson's . That's my favorite

Mr T’s regular and smoked boudin is very good as well as his sausage.

I like T-Boy’s too

I haven't tried them all, but my personal favorite is Billeaud's in Broussard.

Does Johnson’s sell their boudin by the pound uncooked? Or is it strictly served as a menu item prepared?

Best in LC IMO is Sonnier’s. He used to work at Market Basket on Nelson and opened his own place around 2010.
