Poche's boudin is average at best imo.

If IN lafayette, hit up Johnsons. If headed to BR, stop in breaux bridge, and hit up Bayou Boudin & cracklins. Stay away from Poches for boudin and cracklins. To put it mildly, it sucks.

I prefer Poche's over Johnson's, Best Stop, and Bayou Boudin. I do like Nunu's. I also love the smoked boudin at Bergeron's in Port Allen.

I don't know about their other stuff, but their boudin is not overrated. I am from Lafayette and I regularly eat boudin from Johnson's, Best Stop, Don's, etc and Best Stop's boudin is very good. Like any food, taste is subjective--some like more liver than others, some like more rice, etc--but there is no doubt that Best Stop's boudin is among the best.

All I know is that I did a blind taste test 2 years in a row, featuring a dozen or more different boudins from all around Acadiana, and Best Stop finished near the bottom of the pack both times. Oh well, I guess everyone has their own taste.

I was at the boudin cook-off in Lafayette and I certainly didn't agree with some of the favorites there. My personal favorite was T-Jims from Cottonport, but on subsequent visits there it hasn't been quite as good.

When is this boudin cookoff? Would be a great thing to go too?

Billy's boudin at same exit as Don's off I-10.

Billy's is pretty damn good! The boudin balls and boudin Pistolettes are really good also.

Is Billy's the one kind of in front of the KOA? I'll need to try them next time.

ETA: Is it affiliated with Billy's in Opelousas?
