Luby’s was a great place to pick up a Thanksgiving meal. Order ahead and they had everything organized for pickup on Thursday morning.

I like Luby’s.

I remember going to Lubys with the Grandparents every week.

Cleburne Cafeteria in Houston is still the GOAT and doing very good business.

Hey now, I still get a hankering for the hamburger steak with a side of mash tators topped with the hamburger beef gravy and some broccoli rice or mac and cheese from time to time. Piccadilly was a Sunday tradition after mass for me and the other Bears growing up.

Piccadilly's fried chicken was great until they started charging $12 for it.

I used to get the fried chicken, with Mashed potatoes and gravy, fried okra, green beans, and a side of pie.

That would probably run me $20 nowadays.

Lunch bump. They were out of diet coke so I had water.

Tomorrow, we ride to Fuddruckers for the endless jalapeno cheese sauce dispenser with wedge fries.

The fried fish at Luby’s is always on point.

Covid is just the last nail, they’ve been closing restaurants for a while. Hard to run a cafeteria and make money nowadays. Or as someone else alluded to, the management gets exponentially harder with more locations.

Fuddruckers had a pretty good run and a unique concept.

Well, it ain't over until it's over...

From yesterday:
80 Luby's and Fuddruckers locations still open

Don't worry Houston Luby's fans. There's still time to get square fish.

From today:
“Our team members are delighted to serve guests and look forward to serving them during the upcoming holidays and beyond."

The liquidation requires approval from shareholders. If and when that happens, the company hopes to find a buyer that will keep the restaurants open. According to Coutee, Houstonians can place a safe bet that currently operating Luby’s locations will keep their doors open through at least the end of the year, possibly longer, while that process plays out.

Luby's executive assures fans that the Texas icon is still open
