Try it now
It’s a great place with lunch specials and good po boys .
Plus he still has a welder that does small stuff for me since I’m not a Baw.

Interesting read about the way things get cooked there.

His welder does some work for me so I get the back door treatment. He has a whole hog rotisserie that will cook 3 whole 200 lb pigs at a time that he built for his camp. He is a talented designer. All of his smokers are upright and he discounts the offsets.
Everything he builds is like Paul Bunyun . Huge.

Very cool.. Thanks for passing along. Someone will occasionally ask on this site, where to pick up prepared meals.. This looks like the place to go.

Link is good now.
Great story. Thanks for posting it - I need to stop there next time I'm in BR.

He’s a good dude. We’re neighbors in Mississippi. Our camps are close

On Monday I frequently hit it up for deer chicken sauce piquant, broccoli and cheese casserole, cornbread dressing, and a fried link of boudin. It’s up there in contention for my death row meal should I ever need one. I’ve also seen Mr. Wirt do some very nice things for less fortunate people.

He is a good guy. He has some big rotisserie looking machine that he used for gravel maybe up there? It’s a beast. I stop in just to listen to him. He’ll talk the ears off a dead man and just act like he has nothing else to do. I’ll go out of my way to get some small welding job done just to shoot the shite. And he’s got a young welder in there-Cody, that knows his shite. His son Shannon too.

Wasn’t Capt Bellue the chief of the Baker Police Department?
His chicken glacé is freakin delicious.

I miss their location on Jefferson. I enjoyed going into a food coma after eating their plate lunches

His beef jerky is some of the best I’ve ever had.

Used to hit up his plate lunches at the Jefferson location when I was living in Baton Rouge and nursing a hangover. Always hit the spot.

I think he was a BR cop but I don't recall him being at Baker at any point.
