Their esb was solid and the old hardhead facilitated many questionable decisions.

Abita xxxmas ale was another one we used to love. They changed it when it became Christmas ale.

The real Dixie was great. Outstanding with oysters at Casamento's!

Back in the day used to love Strohs beer
When I saw the thread title, this is the first brew I thought of. Not that I loved it, but it was my first, and you never forget your first.

I believe Wild Onion still exists in some form or another after some hiatus because the two brothers that were responsible for Wild Onion beer at the time literally hit the lottery and got out of the beer making business.

I think they still have the real German Lowenbrau.
Back in the mid to late '80s for band practice I would pick up a dark Suisse (Swiss) Lowenbrau. It was ten bucks a sixer back then and was some quality stuff. Not sure if it's still around. Interesting...the pic I dug up from the interweb says Zurich and Swiss...hmm... The dark beer label used to have a chocolaty color scheme.

We were working the German biers then, primarily Hacker Pschorr...

Does Zima get an honorable mention here?

Actually, before the Red Bull energy drink, there was Red Bull put out by Schiltz. It was a 40oz malt liquor that was dirt cheap but would flock you up.

I'll go with Dixie, from the Tulane Ave brewery.

Right down from the old Big Train Bar.

Blue Heron

I drank a ton of that in Oxford in college. Our craft choices were Shiner, Blue Moon and the Lazy Mag lineup which was Southern Pecan, Reb Ale, and Blue Heron. BH was my favorite, I can almost still taste it.

Mackeson XXX Stout was a great milk stout when still available. The contract brewery for the XXX version in the US closed, and they didn't re-contract with another brewery. Wish they would.

Is Rolling Rock the same? I thought I remembered hearing something about them being bought out. I think you can still get it, but just wondering if it is the same as it used to be.
