I still like Leas for what it is. I know a lot of people crap on it.

1. Make sure you do not speed in all the small towns between BR and getting on I-49 in Opelousas.

2.

This if you want to grab something quick like a link of boudin...and the ice chest is you get any of their frozen/stuffed items.

3. Leas is still Leas. Good ham sandwiches and a decent daily lunch. DO NOT SPEED IN LECOMPTE.

4. Pass on through Ellick, nothing special there.

5. Natchitoches has several decent places to try for lunch.

I’ve been driving between Baton Rouge and Shreveport about every 3 weeks since 1981, and I agree with you. I have found nothing. Just a few decent chain restaurants which I usually pass up.

Which is really weird considering Louisiana is a great food state and that’s a solid 4 hour trip. You’d think that the options would be way better.

A bit off the I-49 path but if you are looking for a great triple D type place with a really good old fashion drip down your chin burger....check out Sentry Grill in Alex.

Imma jalapeno burger, add a medium fried egg kind of guy.

I meant to say I agree with him about Alexandria. Natchitoches has some places. Opelousas might also, I haven’t looked there.

For those who don’t know you stop at Lea’s to get a pie if you’re passing through

I don’t like their version of the pecan pie too much, but I love the coconut. The cherry pie is good too.

Forgot about NYMs in Livonia. Only been once with some friends but it was legit. If I recall, it is owned by the same family that has Ma Mama's Kitchen in New Roads.

It's about 5-10 minutes off I49, Cane River Commissary in Natchitoches.
They are only open for dinner during the week and brunch/lunch and dinner on weekends.

We'd stop at Piccadilly in Ellick - one of the better locations in the state and probably the best that town has to offer.

Lemon Meringue or Coconut at Lea's Pies was always a stop on the way home.

French Market Express at the Natchitoches exit.
Or a little bit further into Natchitoches for Lasyone's

Not that Piccadilly is good. That's just how bad the food scene in Ellick is IMO.

A bag of fried ribs from Kartchner’s is must for a roadtrip snack if stopping there.
