re: Baton Rouge restaurants (currently open) that you used to eat at but no more?

Nothing seems worthwhile anymore. Everything has changed since “that thing.” Went to Acme Metairie a couple of weeks ago. Food tasted like it was fried in old oil. And it is always crowded.
Walkons, I used to enjoy going there near LSU when my daughter was a student. Would order the chicken Buffalo wrap. Since it’s become a chain, it’s gone downhill.
Dragos. Last time I went it was disappointing.

I agree. I feel like the quality of food from Baton Rouge restaurants has gone to shite since Covid. Restaurants seem to be just mailing it in. I think all the government money handouts kept people spending, and restaurants didn’t need to provide any sort of value. People seem to still be in the frivolous spending pattern, and hopefully the trash will eventually be washed out of business or the restaurants will up their game.
There are a few exceptions that I’ve noticed, and they’re all mostly upscale options. French Market Bistro, Nino’s, Mansurs, and Diguilio Brothers have all seemed to keep up with their quality control. I will still go to these places for the occasional nice dinner out. I’d rather eat at home than eat the crap that’s served in most other places around BR.

Quite the assertion….

Buffalo Chicken Wrap/Sandwich & Grown Up grilled cheese are fine, they've upped the price and you get like 4-6 fries with it but taste wise it's the only things worth getting

Why did Jed’s have to “re open” when they just opened in general?

They did a bit of a reno as part of soft-rebooting the concept.

Inflation is killing the restaurant industry right now. Wholesale food prices keep skyrocketing so owners and managers have to keep raising prices and lower quality to make ends meet.

Jones Creek Cafe used to be our favorite for a quick lunch, we were slow to give up on them, but the food just got terrible, anything fried is badly overcooked.
