Brother, Cousin, and I are going to Dallas tomorrow. Are there any reccomendations for really good hole-in-the-wall barbecue places?

Not sure if hole-in-the-wall, but I like Lockharts and Mike Anderson's. Preferential to Mike's since they cater to our work quite a bit.

Pecan Lodge is in deep ellum and is very good. Been on diners drive ins and dives and finished number 2 behind franklins in Austin for best in Texas. Brisket is unreal

Also lockharts is very good

Hard 8 bbq is great and by dfw airport. It's pit style and fantastic. It's my go to lunch work spot when I pick up coworkers from airport. They have these smoked bacon wrapped steak and chicken peppers that will make you slap your mom.

The Slow Bone is by downtown as well and is fantastic

The above mentioned mike andersons is good

Stick to what I mentioned above and you won't be disappointed

This....they just moved to deep ellum and their new space is nice. They have a nice outdoor seating area thats great on nice days. And they have doubled their smoker capacity so are able to have meat available til 3pm most days and til 10pm on Fri and Sat....and maybe Thur....check their web site.....they used to have a long line to wait in when they were only open for lunch but now there is sometimes a line at 11:30 to 12. Rest of the time is clear sailing.

Lockhart's Smokehouse is the real deal. Easier parking in the neighborhood across the street than in their 'lot.' Go in - walk to the back - and order your food. Go for the brisket - they usually run out so get that first. Humor me and get some saltine crackers. Report back what happens! Also, Hard Eight barbecue is great too.

Plano or Oak Cliff location? The oak cliff location gets less than stellar reviews from my friends. The one in Plano is supposed to be way better.

Lockharts and Pecan Lodge.

Lockharts serves a great smoked chicken.

The best barbecue I've had is in a hole-in-the-wall place called Cattleack BBQ. They're a catering company that only serves lunch on Thursdays and Fridays which is a shame because I would eat it so much more if I could.

I have been to all the usual suspects in TX (salt lick, franklins, city market, Mueller, blacks etc) but the beef rib I had at Pecan Lodge was the best piece of BBQ that I have ever experienced.

I was there a month or so ago and I second this statement. Brisket was incredible too. I ate way more food than I should have at this place.

Pecan Lodge
Lockhart
Hard 8

There is a new place that just spawned in Grapevine called Meat U Anywhere BBQ.......despite the name it is really good. The sides leave a little to be desired but the meat is fantastic.
