The one in BTR. Didn't see what all the fuss was about. The raw oysters were normal. Their fried batter was good though with good portions (which you pay for). What's the deal with the hush puppies? They are tear dropped and previously frozen?

ETA: I had oysters at Dragos a few days ago so maybe my expectations of raw oysters were high.

Maybe it's just me, but I find the charbroiled oysters at ACME to be incredible. I could honestly eat 5 dozen.

Their Onion Rings may be my favorite in all of BR..near perfect.

Much of Acme-BR I find to be quite solid, some things hit-and-miss, if not a tad bland, with most of the menu slightly overpriced and in small portions.

I like Acme, yet with Parrains but a mere few hundred yards away..why give them my biz?

On Perkins where the old Wal-Mart used to be near campus.

Best roast beef po-boy I've had in BR, reminded me of the po-boys back home in NOLA. I haven't tried their oysters or other seafood dishes, though.

Dude it's a casual seafood joint that serves some solid dishes some of which happen to amongst the best versions in baton rouge. I am unsure what you were expecting but it is what it is.

Eta: raw oysters in July are simply not as plump or salty as it would be in January.

acme's actually pretty good, imo .. especially for BR ... i have already eaten there at least five or 6 times and have enjoyed it each time .. i love my oysters and know what to expect at what time of year ... always know that the oysters will be at their best with a couple of ice cold beer fish bowls during the NFL playoffs ..

i'd have to give parrain's a slight edge over them with the chargrilled oysters .. but only because they serve them with garlic bread ..

oh, there's no doubt portions are getting smaller and food is tasting different at a lot of places cutting corners on ingredient quality ..

I was talking about the raw oysters AND bang for the buck, when I said I didnt see what all the fuss was about, considering I had raw oysters at 3 other places within the last 2 weeks that were all better and only Dragos was as expensive. The fried platter was pretty good, the hushpuppies were weak but that's not why people go there. I'm curious to try something else there, perhaps the roast beef poboy.

like tiger attorney said, july is about the worst month possible to judge anyone on their oysters, they are going to be small for the next few months and not juicy at all .. i would be getting them chargrilled this time of year for sure ..

Their roast beef is terrible. I found a dirty napkin in my chargrilled oysters last time and got sick from eating there. I will not be going back.

Ate 4 oysters. Then flipped over a piece of bread and saw the dirty napkin.
