I’m gonna be here for a few days in December and wanted a few recommendations on food. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind a high end meal but everything I’m seeing is high high end and I’m just looking for good food..not cheap food don’t get me wrong. Any recommendations would be appreciated.(Don’t care about craft beer)

What do you consider high high end?

It’s not so much the money as the menu’s..looked like a bunch of stuff I don’t eat. I have never minded paying for a great meal though

Seriously. I think there's not much more than 3-4 places there that I'd classify as "high end."

Go to Biscuit Head for breakfast.

Tupelo Honey seems like a place that you might like.

Some of the best ribs I've ever had. The blueberry Chipotle are amazing. And that's not something I'd ever normally expect to like.

It's lunch only, and get there by 11 am. Though it's been 5+years since I've been. But damn, it's good.

A couple of good places off the beaten path:

Avenue M on Merrimon Ave

Oyster House on Haywood Road

Recommendation for breakfast:

Sunny Point on Haywood Road across from Oyster House

The Admiral is really good. Tupelo Honey is a nice little breakfast spot. Posano was good, but may be considered a little high end. My wife and I were the youngest people there by about 20 years it seemed. And I think we went to Rhubarb as well and ate out on the patio. Had a grilled pigs ear, good flavor but I felt like I was chewing on a tire.

Don't eat at the Chestnut if you're from South Louisiana and are used to eating good food in New Orleans or in BR. Bland overpriced food. Best meal I had there was at a burger bar but can't remember the name.
