Going to driving that stretch of highway this weekend, and would like some good food. Suggestions?

Arbys in Greenville?

I think there is one exit that has several sit down chains.

I'm usually trying to get there or home as fast as possible so drive thru is all I do.

Is there anything at all between Mobile and Montgomery besides an Indian Casino that isnt really a casino at all?

You might try Priester's Pecans at the Fort Deposit exit. It's a tourist trap, but they serve what looks like a pretty good plate lunch and sandwiches. I always fill up on the free pecan candy samples.

I think it was called Wind Creek or something like that.. VERY nice hotel. Stayed there as a stopping point on the way to Atlanta.

They give you food credit and slot credit when you check in and the stay wasnt expensive at all. However it used to be a Bingo place that built a huge casino on its land and it turns out there are no table games and all the slots are actually Video Bingo that looks like regular slots its new and a nice place to stay but thats it. I really dont recall much of anything else on the road at all between Mobile and Montgomery.

Place would be great if it were an actual casino and not a fancy bingo parlour.

I have no idea.. The rooms they have are every bit as nice as Harrahs in NO and the Beau. I was just in shock when I went to the casino floor.. Zero table games and the slots they had looked familiar until I figured out that it was really video bingo. It sucked once I figured it out too because it told you if you won the second you hit the button on the bingo screen and the wheels didnt even stop yet.

Used to drive that stretch frequently when my daughter lived in Auburn. Best bet - pack your own food. There is nothing decent available. But, when in Auburn, check out a place in Waverly called the Yellow Hammer. Great small restaurant, that is owned by some folks with a N.O. connection.

The casino in Atmore actually has a really good restaurant called "Fire Steakhouse". I drive that route all the time between Mobile and my hunting camp near Selma (I get off on Exit 130 in Greenville). There are the typical sit down chains in Greenville but that's about it besides the casino. Why limit yourself to that stretch? There are a couple of good restaurants in the East Chase area in Montgomery and in Auburn. Why limit yourself to the most desolate stretch of interstate in the state?

This begs the question, why does food in Mobile suck so bad?

My favorite restaurant ever used to be in Mobile but it closed down about a year ago.
