Some Ole baw the other night showed me the way. He called it the triple sear. He had a thick NY strip. Seared it for a minute then removed, soaked In a bowl of bourbon for a minute, then returned to the fire for a minute then pulled and soaked in a bowl of soy sauce for a minute then returned to fire to finish. Chimichuri on the cutting board. It was pretty damn good.

I feel like you are seeing if you can't get anyone to ruin a good steak

Youtube Video
Turns out he wasn't messing with us. Now who is going to try it first?

It was the first time I had ever heard of this or seen it. It was pretty damn good. He said he saw it on a YouTube vid and wanted to try it out.

No, but I have done the quadruple sear. Same as above, but one more extra soak in mayonnaise.

I've done the quintuple sear, and before the mayo you soak it in a double IPA left out a room temp.

If you are soaking the meat in a liquid, it is not going to sear.

False. Hell, you can sear liquid. I seent Ryno sear a bowl of 2% milk once. He called it charcolate milk.

It will on a gas grill cranked up to 650.

Honestly, this isn't the worst idea ever. Would actually work quite well.

Don't forget to light the whole thing on fire at the end.

My steak caught on fire after the bourbon soak. It was a piece of charcoal before I could toss it in the pool to put out the fire. I'm calling BS on this method...

Pro tip: do this part of the process in the microwave.

Or keep some mayo handy to smother the fire.

The best method uses breast milk.
