If what he said in an earlier response saying, "sysco roast, gravy, dressings, etc" then yes...he was way wrong.

My first thread on here I simply said, "just had a chicken sandwich from burger king, it hit the spot and got me thinking, what's your favorite chicken sandwich? Mines got to be a blackened chicken croissant sandwich"

I got a snobby remark about how I can't be taken seriously bc I "like chicken sandwiches from burger king" so yeah, people can be snobs on here. But like everything else, I'm sure they eat canned meals while pretending to be too good to touch certian foods.

I appreciate everyone's advice and opinions on here. I mean, those who are pretentious fricks. I have family who are well respected chefs that don't act as cocky or pompous as some people on here.

damn, y'all are making me want to read the thread.

Like I said, I'm related (by marriage) to award winning chefs. (they run mila in NOLA) and they don't act like some of these jerks. Im willing to bet high dollar that they can cook better than the majority on here. Is MDT always like that, or just this thread? I've only read the last page or so.

Well, I guess Most people would criticize you because the burger king chicken sandwich motivated you to start a thread. We all like mundane, mainstream crap. And I guess my point......I guess.....is you shoud
be motivated to start threads by miraculous food happenings.....not the mundane.i mean being mundane is being average. And being average is not being miraculous. And not being miraculous is so mundane. There.

the burger king sandwich was not revolutionary and I didn't intend to insinuate it to be so. It was more like an "I'm eating a chicken sandwich, I'm on tigerdroppings, I'll start a thread about my favorite chicken sandwich ( that I'm not currently eating)" type thing.

But like the rest of this site, people can't seem to get past a minor detail without spinning it to make themselves feel better/superior. It was never about the burger king sandwich. The burger king sandwich was but a minor detail that made me think of starting a topic on my favorite chicken sandwich. Which was from brewbachers, which would probably still have people turn their noses at.

Regardless, a chicken sandwich isn't necessarily a delicacy. I've seen threads on here about fricking potato chips

So you know what? I'm out. I'll no longer post on here, and you all can sit around and enjoy the fact that nobody will ever present anything bigger than what we have to chew on. Nothing deeper than a good ole WFDT thread, and some real giddy thread over what's the next chain restaurant to open up in Baton Rouge.

It's all yours fellas. Knock yourselves out. Peace!

As a dedicated 'food snob' I don't think the chain lovers, who wet their pants whenever a new one comes to BR get it at all. Can you go to BK and get edible food? Sure, is it cheap? It can be. Can a mom & pop place put out crap sometimes? Sure.

But as a small business owner I want more than the food. I get real pleasure knowing that the family that owns the place it right behind the counter, they put their money and lives on the line because they think they can prepare good food. By eating their products I can be part of that with them, and I know in the same way how much I appreciate everyone who did business with me.

The money I spend stays in my community and it builds the quality of life we enjoy. I completely understand that young people, who grew up in McDonalds, enjoy the sense of belonging to the national culture that eating at chains gives them. They are peer driven, no one with criticize them for eating at OG.

Powerman starts thread to start a fire, as he so often does on a daily basis on one board or another on this site, and calls out some of the F&D Posters for taking food too seriously on a food board.

A few of his personal attacks

• But some of you people are just ridiculous
• It's for idiots (Sustainability and those who buy into it)

Powerman says people who preach sermons claiming to have the high ground can frick off.

MDT then responds with how is your sermon different, and aren’t people allowed to have and share opinions?

Powerman says he doesn’t care if people eat organic food.

MDT Says you must because you started a thread on how people value food and how it doesn’t line up with how you value food.

Thread starts to lose it’s luster and a couple of pages go by and Powerman decides to ramp it up a bit. Makes a personal jab at me, knowing that should do it, and of course it does.

Take Mike da Tigah for instance. Guy is always preaching and acting like he is too good for everything. Yet he lives in Baton Rouge, the city that he decries as being a culinary wasteland. Seems like a rather conflicting life choice given the claim that food is so important to him

I basically lay out my ideals behind how we form our own community by where we decide to eat.

PooponSaban takes a swing and speaks out his arse about what he doesn’t know about me, and calls me a hypocrite.

Then a couple of pages go by as Powerman cracks on R2R, and Uncle Stu decides to take something I said and make it a self righteous statement, regarding me saying that it’s strange to have to validate why food is important to anyone in Louisiana. I still fail to see how that’s news to anyone. Up is up, and down is down, and Food is VERY Important to people in Louisiana. Shazam… Sonofabitch. You learn something every day.

Powerman finds a friend in Stu, and makes another crack that I hate BR, I suppose because I criticize Baton Rouge, much like when you criticize the Tigers, you’re really not a true LSU fan. Or, if you criticize America, you’re not a real American. And so it goes.

NOW, this is when it gets cranked up.

Uncle Stu takes Powerman’s lead and throws gas on the fire. Calls me an Idiot, Mong, and Twunt in less than three sentences.

I respond to Stu and explain my positions again, and try to break it down to common sense things that aren’t just food related, call him a few choice things as well, because about this time I’ve had it with the TD Mafia’s personal attacks.

AND SO IT GOES to the gutter, where Powerman hoped it would go when he started this bullshite to single people out…

So, I’m the dick head mean guy in here and Powerman, Stu, and Poopie are not called out for the same tired old bullshite they pull every day on this site?

You want to know why I pushed the eject button on this place for nine months? Because of this silly nonsense. Because this place has become less of a place to discuss food as it is discuss what certain people think is approved food related and not.

This thread here was NEVER intended to be an open discussion about ideas, because frick, nobody can even share ideas on this board without being insulted and brought before the tribunal of unapproved paradigms. It was intended to call people out for what is deemed unapproved to believe in by the Mafia.

This thread began and ended in personal attacks, and yet the fact that I alone am getting singled out and none other is what is truly laughable about the whole thing. Did I retaliate? YES. Did I start this shite? frick NO I DIDN’T.

I don’t think this place will ever be a place for the free exchange of ideas that those who don’t approve of them deem unworthy of discussion in order to allow people to discuss it openly.

I apologize for talking about subject matter that is important to me and others in business here in BR, and most importantly I apologize to anyone who thinks that I was being unreasonable or mean spirited.

Some matters of fact: I do not hate Baton Rouge. I do not see myself as better than others, but I do see Baton Rouge as having the potential to be better and a really great city. I do not think you have to eat fine dining to eat good, although I do think that when you cook food from the ground up you will almost always eat best when someone knows how to cook. I do believe in sustainability both economically in buying from local business and industry, as well as supporting our farmers who are also our neighbors. I believe in rewarding excellence, and shunning failing so that excellence will win the day and we along with it. When I look in the mirror, I see more faults in myself than you know, and they actually aren’t those that are ascribed to me in here for the most part.

In short, neither I nor any one of my many friends or contacts in business think I’m anything but a pretty thoughtful person who believes passionately in things, so I think the insults on my character are quite unwarranted and disgusting to be quite honest with you. None of you know me personally, but those who do, know this of me. I don’t wish anyone ill on here, not even Powerman, PooponSaban, SFP, or Uncle Stu. I think I struck some nerves with them, and so it would seem that nothing I will ever be able to contribute at this point will make a difference, or be without attacks, seeing I suppose what people see me as being.

As Eminem so eloquently says… I am what you say I am, if not why would I say I am.
What is true and what is not will always be whatever people want to see in another person. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter. This board doesn’t deserve this kind of nonsense, and honestly, neither do I.
