Bought bottle of John emerald single malt whiskey ... distilled in opelika, Al ... first whiskey made in state since prohibition, I think ... made like a scotch but aged in oak like bourbon ... use pecan wood/peach wood smoked barley for the mash ... it's good ...

BIL poured me an Old Putney 12 single malt.....Pretty good and a really good value at about $38 for a bottle.

Macallan 12 year. It was good stuff - I finished a 750 mL bottle by myself

Not scotch but my brother bought me a bottle of Westward whiskey from Oregon. I wasn't expecting much but it was delicious.

Dalmore 12, I thought it was really good

Somebody gave my dad a bottle of this for Christmas. We drank about half of it last night. Damn good. First place he had it was actually on a golf course in Scotland (Gleneagles, maybe?) when a local gave him a shot out of a flask.

there's something majestic about the look of a high quality bottle of whiskey ... esp scotch ...

I usually stick to Balvenie or Macallan, so this was a new taste for me

Where would one look to pick up a bottle?

your local abc store should have it (hate shopping there, but have no other choice) ... they don't have any problems with the state since the debacle with clyde may ... clyde may could've been the first produced since prohibition, but the legislature and bob riley screwed them over ... emerald also makes a gin with locally grown juniper berries, a spiced rum and a vodka ...

This stuff is excellent, made similar to the way Irish Whiskey is made than the way scotch is made.

I have the 8 and the 16. Both are very good. Lagavulin is definitely one of my favorites.
