Too much of anything is bad for you. I eat carbs, just don't eat very many of them. Not gonna give up beer.

I've done other diets that ban beer without giving up the beer. This will be my second round of whole30 plus beer. I see the benefits every time. You really don't have to give up beer. You do have to give up the food choices that beer sometimes causes you to make. I've never been that way though.

I've been doing the low carb/keto thing for about a month. Lost 12 lbs, that includes a week long beach vacation. I haven't given up beer, which is why i'm currently drinking Miller Lite, all of it's GMO's included

You do realize that some of the healthiest things you can possibly eat are carbs right?

Eat whole natural foods. Stay away from processed stuff. Eat the proper amount of calories and macro nutrients, intake lots of micro nutrients and you will be fine.

If you wanna lose weight, why would you do a weird diet, and not just eat the right things in proper portion sizes?

I don't wanna lose weight. I want to be healthier. I would argue that no sugar, no grains IS eating the right things. Sugar is effectively just a low-grade poison, and most American food is utterly bathed in it.

Depends on what you mean. Fibrous carbs from leafy green vegetables? Yes. Fancy, fashionable grains like quinoa? No.

I was referring to vegetables and fruits. If you can eat it in its natural state without processing, it is USUALLY okay.

Sounds good, but not actually true. Most fruit put out today is simply candy. Eating lots of apples/oranges/mangoes/pineapples is effectively just as bad as eating candy.

Go check out how much sugar is in those gigantic navel oranges. Your liver doesn't care if it's "natural" or not.

Now, it's possible that you just don't believe sugar itself is bad for you. That's a different argument. But if you accept that sugar is bad, then a lot of fruit is bad too. If you saw what an orange looked like 2500 years ago, you probably wouldn't recognize it. It would be small, not all that bright and with a decent amount of bitterness in the taste (i.e. way less sugar.)

I dont believe people are getting fat because they are eating giant navel oranges that have sugar in them. They are fat because they eat the oranges and the cookies and the cakes. At the same time one cannot eat a pound of grapes and expect to be considered a healthy snack.

Fructose (the sugar in fruit) is not the same as sucrose (table sugar) and they are both metabolized differently by the body.

Also, there is a good bit of fiber in fruit that you don't get with candy.

To say that fruit is essentially candy is a very uneducated way to look at it but do whatever you want. More delicious mangos and pears for me.

If you are lifting weights/exercising you need carbs and some sugar. I cycle my carbs(meaning on days I work out I eat a lot of carbs, on days I don't work out I eat a limited number of carbs).

If I don't get enough carbs on workout days, my blood sugar gets really low and I get dizzy and my muscles get weak like when you have the flu.

I am in a bulk cycle right now so I eat north of 400g of carbs on workout days, about 110g of carbs on rest days. When I was cutting I ate about 275g of carbs on workout days and about 50g of carbs on rest days.

This guy gets it

so yes...your body does "care if it is natural or not"

You shouldn't eat only fruit of course. You can go overboard with any food or macro nutrient. But to say all sugars and carbs are bad for you is completely false.

Veggies and fruits are healthy. Honey is also good for you (natural honey preferably) which is loaded with sugar

Whether or not what you just said is true, it's not as bad as eating candy.

"need carbs"? I went 14 months on Keto (<40g net carbs)w ithout a single carb refeed and lifting some pretty heavy weight. Just need to make sure hydration and electrolytes are good. Low carb flu is due to electrolyte deficiency.
