I'm seriously considering drop kicking your short arse into Bayou St. John.

Watch your mouth, short stack.

mostly joking, but if you are going to be anal and monitor everything and argue about what kind of diet is sustainable and delicious, you could achieve anything you want on IIFYM, and eat anything you want.

I'm joking. But, the dude lost a lot of weight.

Is he skinny? No. But the dude played line at Jesuit and front row for us at LSU. Not everybody is built like you.

Also, I'm not arguing. I'm just saying the keto diet worked for him, and he's healthier as a result. IF works. We know. Congrats on your carbs.

Why would I want to be "skinny?"

I'm trying to maintain a high amount of lean body mass while reducing body fat.

check my post history. I don't proselytize about keto and spout off about it being the only way to go. I do believe it's an easy and effective way to lose fat. Most of my posts are to give education on how/why to do it, and how to do it properly (electrolytes/water --understanding what happens to your body when the glycogen flushes out). Nothing wrong with IIFYM.

Lean is a much better word than skinny. Keto seems to be the right ticket for a lot of people on this board. In general people know what they should do, eat less move more. I've been down all kinda roads, atkins, paleo, keto. Now I'm back to more of an IIFYM with IF. I wish I had the strength of some of you bigger guys.

Not really. Yes, there is a difference in metabolism speed per sugar type, but in the end, your liver sees sugar as sugar and it causes an insulin spike.

Honey is also good for you (natural honey preferably) which is loaded with sugar

Honey is most certainly not good for you.

But to say all sugars and carbs are bad for you is completely false.

That's true. Fibrous carbs (i.e. vegetables) are good for you.

Did you do a keto diet? Just curious,..

I think after you get to a target weight, you can incorporate some honey. Not bad for you in moderation.

sort of. I do a scaled down version when I need to drop weight.

No white rice, no white potatoes, no white bread, no white sugar.

Brown rice, whole grain bread, and sweet potatoes are eaten very very sparingly.

Finally, I get back on Alli/Xenical.

Doing this, I can drop about 10 lbs per month.

I did not weigh at all last time I did whole30. I did at the beginning of this month. Will be interesting to see the number lost on the 27th.

If you want to have honey in your diet in moderation, then that's fine. Just don't pretend it's "good for you." It is what it is.

Thank you
Honey is natural, it has many health benefits as well as many nutrients.

Same with fruit, eating an organic apple is not the same as eating a snickers bar. The apple has many nutrients in it that the snickers bar lacks.

As far as insulin spikes, there are times where I WANT to spike my insulin and I eat accordingly.

I actually use a combination of diets (IIFYM, IM, carb targeting and carb backloading) all rolled into one. But I don't do IIFYM eating whatever I want like some people do. I keep my food intake to whole (unprocessed) natural foods. I also usually limit my meat intake to under 25% of my daily calories (depending on my goal) as most come from fruits, veggies, and other natural foods.

ETA: Also limit my dairy to a small amount of cottage cheese per day

That's really my goal. I know you must be pretty well in tune with your body to have gotten to this point. Nice job.

I crave so much more dairy than that. Do you, and just ignore it? I feel like I need it.

Yes, it has taken me a while to get to this point. I have been doing different "diets" and such for around 4 years. I have lost a lot of weight and added muscle since I started but it has been a long journey. I try different things and kind of treat my body like a science experiment sometimes. Different times of the year I have different goals and I will change up stuff accordingly. Listening to your body is key!

I crave it sometimes but its mostly in spurts. Cheese was something I craved for a while but I have found a vegan alternative that works for me. I never drank a lot of milk but now I just drink unsweetened vanilla almond milk or cashew milk if I want some.

I should mention I usually do have some dessert type on Saturday nights if I can make it fit and depending on what is going on. That does have dairy in it sometimes.
