Why is it whenever I go to a Shipley’s in Houston, especially the ones run by an all Mexican crew, the donuts are amazing and whenever I go to the one on Metairie Road the donuts suck?

The quality of Shipleys varies wildly from location to location and from visit to visit. And I'm just talking about the two in Baton Rouge - the one on Essen has way better kolaches than the one on Florida. But both locations have horrible coffee.

There isn’t a Shipleys in Houston that isn’t run by Mexicans.

Just tried them. Looks like they are only available for a limited time. You get 4 for $2. You can also get 12 or more but I'm not sure how much they cost. They are kinda small, and don't have a little fried crunch that you may get at Coffee Call or Cafe du Monde. But overall? They are pretty damn good if you want a beignet fix in Texas.

The one at the front of Kingwood is exactly this, and they are very nice. They barely speak any English and seem to be very grateful to have a job, super attentive, and are always serving up fresh kolaches and donuts, I love going there.

Had someone that hyped up their doughnuts, so I tried them. Nothing special and never went back.
