Don't know if the sous vide is still all the rage, but on the Anova website you can get $50 off if you use coupon code LUVMOM50. Or at least that's what the facebook message said

There's also a sharp looking off brand on amazon on sale for $75. Anova is the best consumer model, but I'm sure these other cheaper models are great, too.

Is there any reason to go 900 over 800 watt?

Will heat faster.

Will be better able to recover to cooking temperature if cold food is added to the hot water.

The 900 watt model is capable of keeping more water at temp, all else being equal. This MIGHT matter if you have a lot of food to cook and are trying to maintain a whole lot of water in a poorly insulated vessel.

Do you need a vacuum sealer to optimize these?

In... got one for $99. Thanks.

I like the fact that I can use an existing pot, as opposed to having another piece of equipment cluttering up the counter/pantry/garage.

Is this Amazon review real? Or a joke?

Anyway, this thing is magic. I:E I had PERFECT success with a 2 1/2 lb. chuck roast. I cooked it for 49-50 hours, on 133F. It was medium rare, and THE most delicious, flavorful, tender piece of meat we have EVER tasted!

Vac sealer makes it easier, but gallon zip locks do the same thing but needs to be clipped to the side of your vessel.

Thanks OP, ordered one as a wedding present.

Not a joke bro. You can make chuck roast taste just as good and just as tender as prime rib with these things.

Takes forever blah blah.....
Not waiting that long blah blah.......

How long is good brisket smoked?
Most soups are better the next evening.

Good cooking takes time.
