I'm looking for suggestions for restaurants in New Orleans to take my wife out for our anniversary. I want to take her out to somewhere we haven't been before so Commander's Palace and La Petit Grocery are out. Other than Peche, which is my initial thought, what are some other good, romantic restaurants that I can taker her?

ETA: What I'm looking for in a restaurant is good food, elegant/romantic setting, and seating that is not crammed together. This is our 7th anniversary so let's be honest, expectations have been lowered, but I still want a nice evening with great food and service.

Peche is great, but it's not "romantic". At all.

Went to Bayona recently, and it has always been one of my favorites for fine dining/anniversaries.

Brigtsen's, Clancy's, Avo or Gautreaux's

all romantic neighborhood restaurants nestled uptown.

Brigtsen's Shell beach diet FTW

Gabrielle reopened recently and I've been hearing some great things about it. A friend of mine has already been 3 times. I'm not sure that it's "romantic", but probably in between.

How so? What’s wrong with any of those choices? Tell me.

I like Herbsaint and La Petite...both those are great choices but I think the OP is looking for something off the beaten path possibly.

bayona and brigstens are great choices and if you inform them of anniversary when making reservation they will make it a special affair

My wife and I have celebrated our anniversary in New Orleans a few times. We live near by.

Be sure to tell the restaurant that it is your anniversary. They will treat you special.

Two restaurants were standouts..

Bayona
Cafe Amelie

I don’t think he wants his wife to be sexually assaulted on their anniversary.

Or maybe he does. I don’t know what he’s into behind closed doors. And I’m not one to judge.

Thanks for the suggestions everybody, will look into Bayona and Brigtsen's.

CorkSoaker is right, I thought Peche was a more romantic restaurant. I have never been there so can't speak on the food, but it doesn't look like a special occasion place.

Here are a couple of suggestions off the beaten path. Both are roughly priced about the same as Peche -- we're talking roughly $120 for drinks, dinner and tip.

N7 is romantic in a funky way. It will make you think you're in a little French village, not the Bywater. Well curated wine selection. Great mussels and steak au poivre. My wife really dug it.

Lola's is an authentic Spanish place in Mid City. Local joint. Great paella.

I love Brigtsen's and every meal I've had there has been super. I don't think it's romantic, though, unless perhaps if you can score one of the few tables on the little porch in the front. Otherwise, the rooms are a pretty tight fit with tables and it's pretty loud. I like the atmosphere, though. They also definitely mark special occasions when they know about them.
