Am I weird for not wanting to eat non-stunned halal meat?

I got invited to a restaurant a few days ago that only serves halal non-stunned meat.
I'm no vegan (I eat meat every day) but I've been watching videos of halal slaughter and it seems particularly brutal compared with modern western methods (where they stun the animal first so the animal dies peacefully).
Do you think it would be weird if I asked the restaurant in advance if they could give me non-halal meat?
A friend of mine thinks I'm being a little bit weird which is fair enough.
Or is halal particularly pleasant compared with other methods - I've heard some Muslims say that halal is relatively painless compared to stunning and killing after?

Just don't go. At best they will lie about switching the meat out. At worst you're eating spit and pubes.

You are talking about the traditional method correct?
Drainage of blood through large vessel, typically jugalar/carotid? It is no doubt stressful for the animal but honestly its no less/more barbaric than some of the common slaughterhouse practices.
I dont think its weird for you to be off put by it, but sometimes its better to just not think about how the sausage is made. I have participated in some backyard hog harvests that werent so pretty. BBQ still tasted good.

Yeah, my issue isn't the cutting of the neck but the fact that the animal is conscious for it.
Most normal slaughter is done stunned which I'm okay with as the animal doesn't feel anything.
I wish I hadn't fricking stumbled into that section of youtube.

It's relatively quick affair, and blood loss if probably one of the less painful ways to go. Just lose consciousness .
If you cant get over it, and that's fine, i wouldnt ask for them to substitute though. That's spitting in the face of their culture, which will end up with them spitting in your food.

I kinda have to considering it's a birthday of a close friend.
It's okay. I'm gonna have veg - was just wondering if it would have been okay to ask for non-halal but I didn't realize the implication that it would be insulting their religion.

It's the principle of the thing.
By buying it, I'm creating future demand for halal meat.
I'm also uncomfortable with idea of eating religiously blessed meat.
Look, it seems silly from the outside looking in but it is what it is.

Because it's a Michelin star place that was inspired by Kashmiri culture - Kashmir is a Muslim region in India so I was curious and googled that it was halal meat.

I worked for a few months in a slaughter house (Jackson Packing Company), many years ago. We used an air hammer with a ram plunger under high air pressure. When the trigger was pulled, everything was over for the animal. They likely never felt anything, including the pneumatic ram.
Regarding Halal and Kosher, from what I know, I'm not so sure if it is over quickly. I have dealt with Kosher inspectors and went to the trouble of learning what they do. Halal is the same. In fact, theree are Muslims who say they will only eat Halal, except they will tell you Kosher is an acceptable source, aslo, which means the slaughter methods are the same.

Do you know for sure that it is non stunned? Most Halal meat produced in the United States and UK is stunned first.
If not sure, order the prawn.
