The Pike Place blend is good (tribute to the original in Seattle).
I get the Keurig cubs for when I am feeling lazy. If I'm just buying a cup at the store I'll go with Whole Foods over Starbucks, but it's not bad at all

I agree. I would rather CC's, PJ's, McDonalds or Whole Foods coffee. Plus I dont care for the company but that is for another board.

I think we are mixing issues here. Some posters are talking about Starbucks coffee that they make at home as compared to other coffees they make at home.
Others are talking about drinks in the coffee shop as compared to drinks in other coffee shops. Two different animals.

They are all over roasted and too acidic for me. The only way I can drink Starbucks is if its one of the frappe things, which really isn't coffee anymore, it's a freaking milkshake.

It's not the coffee, you just might not fit into their demographic. They aim for a female and >30 male market, and their products are taste profiled in thousands of testing toward that aim. Male over 40 who just likes good coffee and not all the frou-frou, they don't really want you, you drive off the real customers. We are in a world where knowing your market is more important than the product itself.
SB does not make $$ on a plain cup of coffee, they want to double caramel espresso latte with chocolate sprinkles customer. So go to the Circle K and get your coffee you cheap b@stard.
Next up, Panera estrogen flatbread turkey sandwich.

Not at my place and time. The early morning crowd is almost all male. Age range is 25-50. I'm by far the oldest guy. A few of the guys order fru fru drinks. Very few of them order food. I get oat meal. But we're talking 5:30 a.m. The girls are still putting on their make up. I have gone into SB at noonish to get gift cards for friends and there are a lot of women during lunch time.

Begging your pardon, it IS the coffee. I've tried for 25 yrs to like it. It sucks. BTW not part of the sugar and milk crowd either. I LOVE good coffee- cant abide bad burnt coffee. Wont buy/go anymore.

To each his own. I like that "burnt" flavor. When I buy fresh beans to grind for the french press at home I go for the bolder flavors as well.
I happen to have a family member who worked for starbucks corporate headquarters in various departments and the do a very good job of sourcing good quality beans.
As for price, I only get regular coffee once a week or so at a starbucks and it is cheaper than PJ's or Community.

Can't say I've tried all of the brands mentioned (ie PJs), but Starbucks dark roast is my favorite.
CC's dark roast can't compare in terms of richness and flavor, IMO.
If you dislike a bitter flavor, stay far away from Mello Joy, because it's bitter. I am not a fan.

Truth is, I find both about like the BK and McDs of coffee houses, and cater to people who like the idea of drinking coffee, but don't want it to taste like coffee I suppose, because they're always asking what flavor simply syrup you want in your drink. I usually respond with "coffee flavor".
I get coffee at CCs all the time and never get asked what flavor syrup I want. Do you always go out of your way to exaggerate and sound like the biggest snob on the planet?

Pretty much the same for me. And I'm talking about the coffee bought at a Starbuck's location and not making it at home.

Starbucks for the mixed coffee drinks and PJ's for plain coffee. PJ's Southern Pecan ftw!

Community > PJ's > Starbucks

I use dunkin donuts coffee at my house, find it better than any of those
Posted on 7/14/14 at 7:13 am to yellowfin
Actually, Dunkin' Donuts serves good coffee. Frankly, as good as any I've found in Manhattan when I'm leaving the hotel to go out for the day.
