Is the Cadillac Bar still around/any good?
Was our goto Mexican spot on our annual summer vacation to Houston the Friday before spending Saturday at AstroWorld/Dome.

Tex mex - I’m from S. Texas so can’t give a rec. I have never had good Tex mex north of San Antonio.
These comments are so fricking stupid like people still have to get around in horse and buggy.
There's world class Vietnamese food in Houston, that's half a world away, but nobody can get from McAllen to Houston.

Pappasitos is the ultimate Tex Mex, i don't care what nobody say

Ambrizo is also really good, one in Townelake and on there in Cinco Ranch
It's Ambriza and it is delicious. There's also one in the Vintage Park area off 249. Ambriza is not your typical Tex Mex. Their serrano margaritas are also delicious.

Doesn’t change the facts. People are suggesting lupe tortilla and now chuys
Posted on 6/28/22 at 2:30 pm to justaniceguy
I’m sure there are some places in Houston that might be pretty good but I bet most people on this website are afraid to go to them.

I mean I'll frick with some creamy jalapeno dip and a couple beers at Chuy's...but Lupe Tortilla is just terrible, nothing redeemable about the place.

15 minutes ago you said they didn't exist

The neighborhood doesn't have to look like Juarez or Acuna for the food to be good.
There is a place in the gayborhood that has food like my grandmother and mom cook that is outstanding.

The fajitas at Tony’s (located in the Heights) are pretty damn good.

Learn to read. I said I have never had good Tex mex north of San Antonio.
Besides, I mentioned a place already that was based off a recommendation from a friend that is also from south texas. If anybody itt has gone there I figure they would have responded

I’m sure many of these places have good queso but I don’t think that’s what he meant. And it’s pretty hard to frick up queso.

Maybe not but the more run down looking buildings typically have the best Tex mex. this is the case in San Antonio, the valley, and the rest of south texas.

Your contention that there aren't Mexicans all over Texas is bizzare

Does op want Mexican food or Tex mex? They are not the same thing at all.
Posted on 6/28/22 at 2:51 pm to Mingo Was His NameO
Mexican immigrants cant make Tex mex any better than my quarter tejano pale arse could.

Do you think people in New York people can make Cajun food the same way they do in south Louisiana? I mean there are plenty of French people in NYC…
