And say what you will about Ruth's Chris, the Baton Rouge location does an excellent job with their steaks.

I agree.

I'm absolutely shocked that Peter Luger is on the list. Shocked, I tell you. It's like the people who put these click bait slideshows together don't even bother researching anything. They just recycle old pieces.

I'm not, it's overrated as frick. They only serve one cut of steak. If the place wasn't 120 years old or whatever I doubt it would be as popular as it is now. I will admit the Luger sauce is excellent.

edit- I just looked at the list and noticed it's on there... you had me for a moment.

The best steak I have ever had? Del Frisco's at the Houston Galleria. Bone-in N.Y. Strip.

The bone in filet at Del Frisco's (I've been to 3 different locations) is one of the best steaks I've ever had.

Mooo (in Boston), also on that list, is also one of the best steaks I've ever had.

I ate at Doris a couple weeks ago. Good, but I have no reason to go back.

Solid list except for Charlies.

Yep, and to a lesser extent, Crescent City (better than Charlie's imo, priced correctly too). Great nostalgic places but their quality of beef isn't what you're getting at a Mr John's or Doris.

Fat Harry knows his New Orleans steak.

The top two are my favorites

Crescent City serves all USDA prime, dry-aged beef. My problem with them is the way they cook it is inconsistent, the sides are terrible and premises is shabby. But like you said, it is a great nostalgic place and the quality of the beef is top notch. And if you catch them on a good night, you will get a great steak.

For NOLA, the top steakhouses are:

Doris Metropolitan
La Boca
Chophouse
Mr. John's
Desi Vega's
Crescent City Steakhouse
Ruth's Chris
Dickie B's
Galatoire's 33
Charlie's

I'd move Gala 33 to right behind Desi and replace Charlie's with Besh

Crescent City

Hands down my favorite steak joint in the city. I love the ambiance, and they're steaks are great. I also love trying to remember what each of the 200000 different types of potatoes are.

Haven't heard of Moooo but now I want to try it.

Just made it through the whole list. Craftsteak in Vegas is on the list? Makes this entire list garbage. That was one of the worst dining experiences of my life.

And no St. Elmo's?

Dickie Brennan's gets a legitimate LOL for being on this list from any local.

a lot of that is because New Orleanians hate anything that becomes too touristy regardless of the quality.

Ive had chewy ribeyes the last two times I've been. Made me question their beef quality. I agree with you about their inconsistencies. Maybe that was to blame

When i was in Boston, i looked up steakhouses and Mooo was consistently rated along with Grill 23 as the best steakhouse in the city. The bone in filet at Mooo was out of this world. I really don't remember any other part of the meal.

And yes, as you, I and one other poster have mentioned in multiple threads, Craftsteak is absolute garbage. Prime and Stripsteak in Las Vegas are much better.

I disagree with so so so much of that list.

Bern's definitely deserves to be there.
Pro Tip: Go early and get a tour of the warehouse next door that serves as the wine cellar and have one of the assistant sommelier show you around.

And at Butcher and Singer in Philly. Good, but not the best. I recommend the Saloon for better cuts of meat, a better wine list, and better cocktails.
